"Look what I got you from the mall for tonight!" My grandma says holding up this short black and white dress.
"Wow that's perfect, thank you, I can't believe that I was able to get my shift covered last minute!" I said grabbing the dress to try on. My grandma has always had amazing taste, she always knows what looks best on me. The dress is form fitting with white underneath and black lace over it, it fit's me like a glove. Tonight is my cousins sweet 16, as I quickly got ready for tonight I thought about how long it's been since I've been to a formal event. I've been drowning myself in my work, which is normally a bad thing for some people but for me I was obsessed with my job. For I am a professional photographer, which is crazy to say for only being 20, but they say once people start paying you is when you are officially a "professional". As I look at my shoulder length freshly curled black hair, which I recently did because of a horrible purple hair dye idea. My makeup is set and I put on my 6-inch black heels which makes me about 5'8 in height.
"Liv lets go, we are going to be late!" My grandma yells from her room down the hall. She always the one to yell at other people being late when she's the one still getting ready. As I walk to the car, I feel really good about the way I look, which doesn't happen often enough. As we get to the venue, it's very grand, like something out of a movie. I knew that it would be nice but this was beautiful, set on a golf course overlooking a huge lake. It was really meant for someone's wedding, not a 16-year-old girl's birthday. For my family though it was perfect, they were very into over-the-top events and with over 300 people most of which was family, it was definitely over-the-top. As I walk through the venue which is decorated to look like a movie set, the theme is old Hollywood. I see my favorite girl cousins which are all around my age.
"Hey Liv, you look so cute! We weren't sure if you were coming or not! I'm so happy you are here!" Nikki said as she hugged me so tight I could barely breathe.
"Nik, calm down dude, you are killing her," Natasha said.
"Guys it's been forever! I've missed you all so much!" I said giving them both a hug.
"Where have you been man, we haven't seen you in months," Natasha stated.
"Just working a lot and getting life in order for the first time in a while" I laughed.
"We heard you and your boyfriend broke up, I'm sorry to hear that babe" Nikki muttered as she rubbed my arm consoling me. She knew, everyone knew. My ex-boyfriend and I were dating for about 4 years before I decided to end it 6 months ago. He was like a black hole sucking me into an abyss of nothingness. I'm more then overjoyed that it is in my past. Nikki really doesn't understand that she's more of a relationship person and to her being single is literally the end of the world.
"Yeah, we did and I really haven't been happier! Single is my new calling!" I smiled. It truly was, everything about being single has been amazing, and I don't think I want to give it up for a while.
"What? You are crazy! We are going to find you a cute guy to take you on a date tonight! You obviously need a dose of reality!" Nikki declared.
"A date Nik? Really?" Natasha moaned.
"Okay guys, chill. No date, but if you can find someone that can get me laid that be amazing! That's the one thing I really need," I laughed.
"Oh my god, Liv... Fine. Maybe if I find the right guy it could lead to more!" Nikki Fantasized.
As we walked to our table, which we usually all sat together at these events, and tonight was no different. I can tell Nikki has been scanning the room ever since she decided she was going to find me a man. Honestly, I just needed to have sex with someone, ideally a hot guy that could be a booty call every now and then. I know that sounds horrible but a girl has needs too, right? The room was filling up, people are starting to take their seats at the large around tables, each table fit about 12 people. The room was decorated beautifully, very classic and with lots of bling. I start to hear Nikki whispering to Natasha about a guy she found in the crowd, and I am now starting to regret this whole idea.
