Once upon a time, there was a Phoenix of great beauty that flew through the sky with wings as long as the eye could see. The bird loved the earth and cared for all the animals. Where its wings touched ,once dead, plants breathed life again. All was peaceful.
That is, until the Phoenix's friend, the Dragon became jealous because the Phoenix was loved by everyone and yet he was hated for what he was. Jealousy soon lead to hatred and drove the Dragon to murder the beautiful bird. The dragon realized too late what he had done to his dear friend. It tore him apart until there was nothing left but anger for what he had done.
Because of this he took it out on the animals across the land. He murdered thousands and still it could not satisfy him. Many months later the Phoenix came to the Dragon. The Dragon cried out in joy and ran to greet her. “My dear friend, you have forgotten that I will always come back. Your hatred and anger blinded you from seeing the truth. And now look at what you have done to the animals.”said the bird sadly. Dragon was torn because his actions and asked the Phoenix to kill him for his sins. She argued with the Dragon for some time until she decided to do as her friend wanted. Before she killed him she asked, “Is this truly what you desire?” “There is no going back from what I have done. I am so very sorry.” was all that he said.
The Phoenix cried that day when she killed her beloved friend the Dragon.
