Will looked out of the castle window. His coffee coloured hair blowing in the wind, and his crystal blue eyes observing the sight before him. The forest was a deep green with spots of white from the snow that was beginning to fall. The sun was a bright yellow as it set in the west, and it was glaring through the trees.
He watched an owl fly from tree to tree and imagined himself in that position. Free to go any where and do any thing. However he was stuck here. In the Ward with other kids who, as he was thirteen, were all younger than him. So they either hated him, or just didn't know who he was and didn't notice him.
Slowly he opened the window another six inches so it was a foot and a half open. He climbed out onto the windows edge and stood there for a few seconds before dropping to the stone below. Castle Whitecap sat on a hill in the middle of a three meter thick moat. It had walls that were five feet thick and were 20 feet high, made of a combination of; sand, clay, gravel, and ground up bedrock. The walls were all one solid rock in the end.
Under the window where Will had jumped, were the places where archers would go to help repel a siege. He walked slowly following the rythym of the night to blend into the shadows of the walls. He eventually came to a window that was slightly ajar. Careful to not make any noise he slowly opened the window and slid through.
As he dropped silently to the floor he looked around and then he heard voices coming from behind a curtain. "Sir" said a deep voice. "We have an issue".
"Well Stevan what is it?" Said another voice, this one wasn't as deep but was filled with authority.
Stevan sounded nervous as he talked. "Your majesty, the army of Goragath is fast approaching and will only be slowed down by the canyon thisisahugeproblemasyoucan"
"Stevan! Calm down I can't listen to a lightning bolt!" Said the king.
"Sorry... Sir." Said Stevan. "....Would you get mad if I told you how you can actually listen to lightning because it createsthunderthatmakesabangthat"
"Stevan! Again, don't talk so fast its like trying to listen to a fly! Anyways I will take a look at the position of Goragaths army, and see what we can do."
Will left as soon as he heard Stevan start to leave the room. He silently crept back into his dorm and crawled into bed.
