Chapter 4: Lose a friend or lose your life

    Luis wasn't focusing or paying attention to his very rash decisions. At the moment anyway. Until Rocky yelled "Luis. NO!!" But of course, it was too late. As Nightmare Lycan was temporarily caught off guard, and temporarily dazed.
    But then Luis's ears began to ring. As a sudden loud screech came from some kind of tiny ear piece planted in the Nightmare Lycan's left ear.
    He immediately stood up. But rather hesitantly at first. Before he snapped out of his daze and began to charge at Luis.
    Luis was clearly frightened by his former friend. He couldn't will himself to run and hurt him in anyway necessary.
    "Luis, he's long gone. Go!" yelled Rocky. "No he's not!!!" growled Luis.
    Rocky couldn't respond to Luis. As Luis's zoned out moment gave Nightmare Lycan all of the time he needed to advance upon Luis. Tackling him with such brute force that the wind was knocked out of him.
   But Luis wasn't hurt... Not on the outside anyway. "Why Ivan? Why?" said Luis desperately.
    "I must kill you." was Nightmare Lycan's response.
    "But I can't kill you." was Luis's response. "Too bad for you then." said Nightmare Lycan. He pulled out a long shiny sword.
    Luis had seen it before. A brief flashback runs through his mind of a smiling Ivan.

Just a week ago:

    "Hello again Luis. How are you today?" said Ivan. "Vvv, very well. Thankyou Ivan." responded Luis. "Very good Luis. Work on you "v's" and you'll be properly educated in no time." said Ivan. The smile never left his face. "I will Ivvan." responded Luis.
    "Today, we have a simple coloring exercise and we'll begin shortly with a short story." said Ivan. "Okayyy, Ivan." responded a Happy Luis.
    Hearing Ivan read stories to him was Luis's favorite pastime. Something he enjoyed a lot.
    Ivan pulled out a small book called "Little Red Riding Hood" and some crayons from his large duffel bag.
    Luis had always wondered what else was in the bag. So, while Ivan wasn't looking, Luis leaned over on his table and peered into the bag. To discover a long and shiny object.
    Luis, be as simple minded as he was then, wanted to touch the lomg shiny object.
    So Luis leaned on closer. But the second he touched it, he yelped in pain and repealed.
    Luis sat back up, and sucked on his stung finger.
    Ivan had turned around and scolded Luis by saying "Luis, you naughty, naughty little boy. That's what you get for touching things that don't belong to you." Then Ivan chuckled slightly.
   Luis looked up at Ivan with innocent eyes. "Ivvan? What's so funny?" Luis asked. "Oh nothing my wonderful child. But since you decided to touch my stuff, I guess I better show you what I have here." said Ivan.
    Ivan pulled  the long shiny metal object out of his Duffel bag.
    "This, my boy, is a sword." said Ivan. He puts it closer to Luis for him to get a better look at it. Luis's funny-looking reflection had shone back at him.
    "Ivvan, why did the sssword bite me? asked Luis. "It didn't bite you Luis, but it stung you. You may not understand this now, but this is a dangerous weapon used on people like me and you. We're not human.I won't hurt you with this, I promise." said Ivan.
    "Human?" asked Luis. "Yes. You're getting it!!" said Ivan joyfully. Luis smiled and blushed slightly. He Knew that he was learning. And what came next after he learned something new was ruffled hair and a noogie.
   That's exactly what happened. But something more happened.
    There was a loud banging on the door. Interrupting the calm quiet that previously stayed in the room.
    The banging did not stop. It got worse. "OPEN UP!! WE KNOW YOU HAVE THE EXPERIMENT IN THERE WITH YOU!!!" yelled a loud booming voice.
    Ivan looks frantically from the door and back to Luis. His tone was immediately urgent. Confusing Luis greatly. "Luis, listen to me. Put on your listening ears. Are you listening?" said Ivan.
    "I'm listening!" sang Luis. Ivan smiled at Luis. But it was different. One of those smile Ivan would give when he has to go. The thought of Ivan leaving made Luis frown. "Good, remember, whatever you do, don't go outside. Do you hear me?" said Ivan.
    "Ivvan?" asked Luis with a sad expression on his face. "Don't worry kid. As long as you stay here, things will be alright." said Ivan. "Promise?" asked Luis. "Promise." said Ivan before he smiled one last time.
    Ivan leaves. There was chaos after that point. And Luis heard it all. Screams rang out. Louder screams rang out.
    There was more noise and foreign sounds Luis couldn't understand. But one ear-splitting explosion caught Luis off guard.
    The area was deathly silent. Too quiet. And Luis couldn't take the silence anymore. So Luis crept to the door.
    The door was slightly ajar. And what Luis saw made him far beyond confused and sad.
    There was red liquid everywhere. But it wasn't the blood, or the guts that caught Luis's attention. It was a motionless Ivan. Laying on the ground.
    Without thinking twice, Luis ran to Ivan's side. "Ivan? Ivan? IVVVAAAANNN!!!!" Luis screamed and screeched.
    Nobody responded. But instead, Luis received a sharp pain in his neck.  Black spots clouded his vision, and he blacked out.

    The memory of that event was too harsh to describe. It devastated Luis. He thought Ivan was dead. But here is Ivan now. No longer Ivan.  Now, he's Nightmare Lycan.
    "Ivan, look. I know you're still in there." said Luis
    Nightmare Lycan swung at Luis. He luckily dodged just in time. "Ivan!! Listen!!" yelled Luis.
    Ivan swings again. Luis repeats his dodge. "Ivan... put on your listening ears... are you listening?" said Luis.
    And with that, Nightmare Lycan freezes. He's jolting like crazy until he finally responds "Luis." his voice was at a near whisper "It's me Ivan. It's me." said Luis.
   "LUIS!!" repeated Ivan even louder. "That's it Ivan. Fight it!!" yelled Luis.
    Luis got excited. Finally, there was hope. Until after Ivan's features returned to normal.
    There was something large strapped to Ivan. "Luis, it's a bomb. It will explode. So I have to kill myself." said Ivan. "Ivan? No!!! I, I can save you." said Luis.
     But Ivan shook his head. Then he said, No, take my sword. Don't lose it. It will guide you"
    Luis reluctantly grabs the sword after he shifted back to human form. "I'm sorry it had to end like this." Luis. "Don't be. You saved me." said Ivan.
    Ivan gave his prized smile right before Luis ran off.
    There was later an explosion right when Luis reached the open exit. And the whole time. Rocky didn't say a word until now.
    "Damn.... I'm speechless kid." said Rocky. Luis didn't respond... he just kept on walking as the fire steadily increased... Then he shifted after a few minutes.
    Luis began to run. Run further and faster. Away from hell. To where, he didn't know. He just kept on running...
