People will give hurricanes names and genders, yet if someone is different than them, they aren't treated like a person at all.
Apparently you must have the same sexuality, race and religion as those that are granted privilege, or you won't be treated like person. Fierce winds and extreme amounts of rain are consider more worthy of respect than someone who is different.
People personify things like hurricanes, but don't treat human beings that are different from them like a person. As if they don't have thoughts, feelings, lives.
