After Potions, Alyssa had Ancient Runes with Ravenclaw. ‘This is soo boring’ she thought to herself as the teacher droned on. She turned and looked out the window and almost laughed out loud at what she saw. Just outside the classroom, the Gryffindors were having their first flying lesson. The Weasley twins were hovering, just out of reach of the frantic teacher, having a pretend sword fight with two other student’s brooms.
“Come down now!” shouted the teacher, trying to clutch at the bottom of the twins’ robes.
“He started it!” the twins said in unison.
The students below were cheering and hollering.
Fred lunged at George, almost clipping him round the ear.
“Oi! Look out!” scowled George.
“It’s all fun and games until someone loses and ear” grinned Fred.
Alyssa let out a slight giggle. The teacher noticed. With a wave of her wand the shutters slammed shut and that was the end of her amusement. The teacher went back to her droning. Alyssa sighed and let her head rest on her desk.
When the lesson was finally over Alyssa was the first one out of the classroom. She bounded down the stairs to the Entrance hall to meet the twins. The front doors burst open and the students filed in. Lastly came the flying teacher, Professor Hooch, with a Weasley twin in each hand being dragged by the ear.
“Ally!” the twins called excitedly from under Hooch’s grasp when they spotted her.
Madam Hooch marched forward and shoved them into the room. She looked very flustered. Her hair was all askew.
“Cor. You nearly ripped my ear off” cried George.
“Never! In all my years have I seen such a reckless disrespect for school rules. And from first years no less. 20 points will be deducted from Gryffindor. Each!” she puffed. “And you!” she rounded on Alyssa.
“What did I do?” Alyssa whined.
“You!” Hooch grimaced “You might want to find yourself a better calibre of friends” she turned on her heels and stalked off in a huff.
“I think she liked us Fred.” George grinned.
“I think she liked me” Fred corrected. “What could she possibly see in an ugly mug like you?”
Alyssa laughed and shook her head.
“What’s the score now George?” asked Fred.
“25 a piece. And 10 for Ally” George informed him.
“Score?” Ally asked, bewildered.
The twins proceeded to talk quickly, alternating between to two of them,
George: “Oh you don’t know?”
Fred: “You’re already playing so well”
George: “Every year Slytherin win the house cup”
Fred: “Everybody knows that”
Together: “So we make our own fun”
Fred: “Your other house mates aren’t going to like it”
George: “It will be most un-hufflepuffian of you”
Together:”But we think you’ve got what it takes”
George: “The idea is to creatively lose points”
Fred: “We also set challenges”
George: “If you pull off a challenge without getting caught”
Fred: “You get double points”
Together: “So. Are you in?”
Alyssa paused and looked through the open doors of the great hall. At the front she could see four big hour glasses that kept score of the house points. Slytherin was indeed well out in front even though it was their first day. She turned back to the twins that were eagerly awaiting her answer.
“I’m in” she grinned.
