Hello so this is my first story and I'd really appreciate it if you guys would tell me what you think? I know this first chapter is probably not that good but the following chapters will be better! This has been edited by ShadowSheWolf!
Chapter One:
"Mel, stay here, and don't go anywhere." Michael, my bodyguard, said.
"Don't worry, Michael. I won't," I told him while rolling my eyes.
Michael nodded and hurried into the café to get our drinks. I didn't see why it was necessary for me to have bodyguards with me all the time; nothing ever happened to me. Most people were too afraid to even come near me, 'her royal highness'.
I had no friends, other than a few maids at the castle and my bodyguards. Pitiful, I know, but I wasn't allowed to have normal friends. My dad, the king, didn't approve of me hanging out with people that weren't from our kingdom.
At times, I truly hated my life, I was forced to stay in the castle everyday, with no friends. Studying, and taking etiquette classes. I attended royal balls and met the suitors that my parents brought for me. I went to tea parties with snobby women and had sleepover's with know-it-all princeses. My entire life I've done nothing but try and be the picture perfect princess.
I tapped my fingers rhythmically on the wooden table as I glanced around myself. It was Sunday, the only day that I was allowed out of the castle grounds. It was the only day that I could drop the princess stuff and act like I was a normal girl. It was all thanks to my mother, she was the only reason I was allowed to leave the castle.
My father was the over protective type, he didn't agree with me leaving the castle. But of course my mother one that argument, girl power. Sundays were the days that I always tried to find something interesting to do. I failed most of the time for the fact that there was nothing interesting to do in McChester.
Daniel, my other bodyguard, was talking--about what, I wasn't sure. I usually tuned him out; he had the bad habit of talking way too much. A man wearing a dark hooded jacket caught my eye as he sat at the table across from us.
I wasn't able to see his face; the hood of his jacket was pulled securely over his head. The sun was going down but the tempature was still as high as ever. Another negative about McChester, it was always hot, day and night. Plus, it was the middle of the summer and at least 98 degrees out. Why would he be wearing a jacket?
The man pulled something out of his pocket--a phone, I think-and began typing away on it. His fingers moved so fast that I could hardly see them; they seemed to blur almost. I leaned my elbows on the table and rested my head in my hands, my eyes trained on his hooded face.
I could see a hint of pale skin and a set of full red lips. The man's lips were so red that they looked as if he were wearing lipstick. I found that fact odd, I'd never known a man to wear makeup. All though the scullery maids at home had mentioned that there were men that wore makeup and dressed like women. Was this man one of those people?
He lifted his head and glanced around himself before getting up and walking past me, down the street. Being the nosey and overly curious person that I was, I got to my feet. "I'll be right back. I have to go to the bathroom," I said, to Daniel, which was a lie.
Shoving my hands in my pockets, I hurried into the café where Michael was up at the counter. He didn't notice me come in so when Daniel turned his head, I quickly made my way back outside and ran down the street. This happened often with me; I always snuck away from Michael and Daniel. You'd think they'd be more observant after the first ten or so times, but no.
The man rounded a corner, and I hurried after him, intent on not letting him out of my sight. It was stupid of me to be so curious; he was just a man after all. But, there was something about the way he kept his face hidden, and his graceful gait. I was also curious to find out if he was one of those men that dressed like women. Now that would be a sight to see.
