13 days to go

Huge.

There are mainly two types of huge. One is where you can actually imagine how big something might be. Like I say,  the Eiffel Tower is huge. You can imagine how huge it must be. You can actually put a height to it. The second one is where you cannot imagine how huge something is. If I say the moon is huge. You simply cannot put together how huge the moon could be in your mind until you see it yourself.

Ships my friend, fit in the second category of huge.

Reethe had been going on ships for almost 4 years now. Though I had never actually seen a ship for real in my life I had always imagined them to be big to some amount. But never in my life had I thought that they would be this big.

Trust me, until and unless you see one in real life, you will never completely understand how enormous they are.

Here I was standing at the docking station of the Star Geminie and I couldn't move a muscle. The enormity of this cruise was overwhelming me. Not in the happy kind, but in a sad kind.

It's too big. I thought to myself. 14 days are not enough to search him on this big a ship.

I took a deep breath and calmed myself down.

I have to try.

After boarding the ship I was handed a guide map by one of the servicemen. He asked me what my cabin number was. It was V16. He told me that it was in the 'Veranda deck' and guided me how to go there.

After finding my room I punched in my key card and opened the door. The room, I should say, was fabulous. It was not big, but looked comfortable. The door led to a narrow lane which had a bathroom to its right. As you walked further in you could see a single bed attached to the wall with a side table. The other side had a mirror and dressing table. On one side of the bed was cupboard and facing the cupboard was the balcony. I opened the balcony and stepped into it. It had a small recliner chair. I breathed in the fresh air. The view was breathtakingly beautiful. I stepped back into the room and started unpacking.

After arranging my clothes in the cupboard, my makeup on the dressing table, toiletries in the bathroom and taking a shower I collapsed on the bed. I took the map from the side table and started examining it. It had a detailed layout of the whole ship.

To tell you the truth I couldn't understand a single word in it. There were all types of confusing deck names. The only things I could understand were the entertainment centres such as library and lounges. I spotted the 'Internet Cafe' and decided it would be best if I search more about the ship.

After taking almost 2 hours and asking around too much I was able to find the cafe. I took a seat in an empty booth and started searching what the deck names meant, how to find your way around the ship and how to avoid to get lost. After 1 hour of extensive searching I was able to figure out this.

Riviera: typically the lowest passenger deck

Main: It is just another passenger deck.

Upper: passenger deck.

Empress: the highest passenger deck.

Atlantic, Promenade, Lido: decks where you will find all types if entertainment. They had restaurants, libraries, theatres, pools, lounges, shops etc etc.

Verandah: passenger deck where they had balcony cabins.

Sports: as the name suggests, gym.

Sun: the highest deck.

To avoid getting lost always keep your map with you. Use the elevators as much as possible. And never hesitate in asking someone for help.

I sent a mail to Miranda saying that I had arrived safely.

All this searching made me hungry and I made my way to the restaurant. After a hearty meal I went back to my room and got to work.

I circled out the places that I had to go to daily like my room, restaurants, library and pool. Next I started searching the map for something like 'crew' or 'engine room'. But I couldn't find anything like that. I noticed that the bottom part of the ship was not labelled and was blank. Maybe the engine room and the crew cabins were somewhere there. I could go there using the elevators, but then what? There was absolutely nothing in the map. What if I got lost there? What if I got caught sneaking around and they kicked me off the ship?

No. I couldn't afford that.

I circled the laundry services area. I could ask around here for information when giving my laundry. They would probably help me out if just looked curious and not suspicious.

I looked around the map once again and the word 'Bridge' caught my attention. It was the place from where the captain manoeuvred the ship. More like cockpits in aeroplanes.

Reethe was in engine crew so I knew he wouldn't be positioned on the bridge. Maybe I could get more information from here. After all it was worth trying.

Everything and anything is worth trying. I said to myself. Now you are finally here. Don't leave any page unturned. You have to do whatever it takes to find him.

And convince him.

Hey everyone.

Ok. So I have never been on any ship so I have no knowledge about them. But after searching for hours I was finally able to put all this together. It may take you some time to get the hang of things.

Until then don't hesitate to ask.

Hope you like it.
