In the darkness they came. Riding dead horses, carrying the nightmares she loathed, carrying the pain she feared. All bearing the mark of the King. Faster they came. Through icy mountains and forgotten forests. Through the dark desolate deserts of her mind, into which a distinct malevolence grew- they came. Faster. Faster. And again FASTER. Till they found the place...
In this place of sorrows. In this place of terror. Where peaceful delights seek out death in the face of the everlasting evil, which feeds upon the foolish hope that grows in the most derelict corners of her mind, they came. The pregnant fear bore destruction. Destruction brithed misery. The misery shrouded them with the sickness of reality.
And the Kings army waited..
Light embraces the Queen. Her army marches forward. Today, she promised herself. Today.
Eyes open.
Darkness envelopes the hope. Alone. Cold, fearful and alone, yet strong in the face of it. Her demons were gone and the screams had long since faded. The King had not expected this level of bravery. Not in the face of the lingering fear. But how can such bravery exist if not in the presence of fear? For both are intertwined.
Something was wrong. She felt it. Where were the monsters? Why had the demons fled? Why had only a semblence of fear been present? Why did it refrain from showing its face? The darkness was too thick. It was masking something... But what?
The sunset and reality died down. But it did not fade. She could not return back to peace. A foul evil approached bearing calamity and woe. She must face this alone.
The King stood with Pride smirking to the left of his throne as Assurance bowed low before him. And the King smiled slowly. But he did not see the ghostly being to his right...
