It's Saturday, Kaoru, come on man, don't be a wimp. Just...show up, take her out to lunch or something, ask her the question and be prepared for anything. I sighed and looked at myself in the mirror. I was wearing a black tuxedo with a bright red tie, her favorite color. My hair was as wild as ever, after two hours of putting gel in then brushing it out then putting in gel again. I gave up in that area. I had my converse on. Sure, they're not usually the type of shoe most people would wear on a formal date but I didn't have any good dress shoes.
"Ooh my little brother's going out on a date is he?" Hikaru ruffled my hair and smiled.
"Younger by a few minutes, jerk." I fixed my hair quickly and looked back at the mirror. Fine.
I took the keys to the car and got in, unknowingly getting the tail of my tuxedo caught in the door and putting a big hole in the back of my blazer. Hikaru didn't tell me and I ended up driving off, wondering why he was laughing so hard.
I was driving down the highway and just thinking of her. Will she say yes? Does she even like me that way? Am I rushing into this, we've known each other for years but it seems like we hardly know each other anyway.
I drove the rest of the ten minutes to her place and parked outside their house. Okay, Kaoru, breathe. Breathe. I sighed and got out of the car, locking it and closing the door. I walked up to the front door and knocked.
She answered the door.
"Hey! Wow, you're dressed fancy for a simple study date, Kaoru." She said, blushing light red.
Date? I gulped. "I was wondering...if you would like to..get some lunch first? With...me?"
She squealed and grabbed my arm, looping her arm in mine. "Of course, I'd love to."
I half smiled and walked back to the car, reaching into my blazer pocket and looking for the keys that weren't there. I did manage to find the hole in my pocket though. I looked at Angel then into the window of the car to see my keys on the driver's seat. Uh oh.
I chuckled nervously. "You know, Angel, cars are overrated. Let's walk to lunch." I held out my hand for her and she just looked at me incredulously.
"Kaoru Hitachiin, you locked your keys in the car didn't you." She asked.
I nodded.
She laughed and took my hand, intertwining our fingers."Looks like we're walking to lunch then." She smiled and we started walking down the street. On the way there, I fell and scraped the palms of my hands on the concrete. This date isn't going too well.
We stopped at a Red Lobster and she had the snow crab legs and I had some Fettucini alfredo. She looked at me happily the whole time and it seemed like she was having so much fun.
"So Kaoru, why did you really want me here? Tamaki told me you wanted to ask me something when you came over on Thursday." I nearly choked on my food but was able to keep it down.
My heart started beating super fast. "I uhhm..I was wondering something. Are you single?"
"Yes."
"Would you like to...maybe....not be single? W-With me?"
She blushed deep red and stared at me in disbelief. "Are you...asking me to be your girlfriend?"
"Yes."
She sighed and looked at me.
