It was quiet. Abnormally quiet, as if something was preparing to strike, lying in the shadows for me. Waiting for me to make my first move.
The air grew thick and cold fast. As soon as the the clock stroke midnight, the grandfather clock came to life from the quiet world and signalled that hell has come. An unseen hell.
What am I doing here? I should have been home and with my family. This doesn't feel right, but its to late to turn back. I need this money, my family needs this money. I have to stay, I sat thinking on one of the old wooden chairs that I had brought to the living room to sit on.
Creak.....creak......creak.......creak......thump! Came a noise from upstairs. A noise that broke the quiet, still houses thick darkness. It sounded as if someone was walking then suddenly fell to the floor above my head.
I grabbed the camera and began to roll again.
"It's now a little after 12 in the morning and already things are beginning to happen," with that spoken to the camera the noise returned again.
Creak....creak...creak......creak......thump!
"Whatever it is right above me. The only problem is....I don't have a flashlight. So the best thing of got to see up there is this camera. I'm glad I bought the night vision attachment," I said flipping it from normal to NV.
The room I stood in came to life in the color of green. I could see everything in the house around me. It all looked the same.
I began to work my way upstairs, slowly, trying not to make to much noise.
Creak....creak....creak....thump!
The sound kept heading my way as I made my way up the stairs. All I could see was the green outlines of the steps as I made my way up them. I could feel a chill run down my spin. My instincts told me to run, but my curiosity kept pushing me forward.
Once at the top of the stairs, I could see the hallway and all the doors. The sound was coming from the room farthest away from the stairs. I could see light under the door and the shadow of someone.
"Hello?! Is anyone there?" I called out to the noise.
The noise stopped. The shadow shown under the door. It appeared to be looking at me. Trying to listen for me.
"Hello?" I called again a I approached the door slowly.
The shadow moved again.
I slowly slide open the door with an sinister creek. No lights shown in the room, but the night vision view on the camera shown me the room.
The room once belonged to a little girl. Toys laid into he floor. The walls paint had been chipped away. The bed rotten away.
As I stood their, I felt something drip onto my shoulder. Something warm. Something that smelt terrible.
I began to raise the camera up to the ceiling. In the green light of the camera I seen it. A thing that was once human, but was no longer human. It looked like a little girl, but not anymore.
Her head was turned all the way around. Her skin had been rotting away. Her whole body was twisted in a inhuman manner. Then hammered to the ceiling to decay.
Fear swelled up in my stomach. Or was it vomit. Whatever it was it made me run from the room. Run for the door.
I knew that body wasn't there earlier. Something didn't sit well for me. I got to the door and tried it...but the door wouldn't budge.
"Just calm down. Take deep breaths. Its just a lack of sleep getting to you. That's all," I muttered to myself.
I slowly turned around and began breathing slow calming breaths. I slowly died down my nerves and made my way back up stairs.
