If I just didn't carelessly left the library I would've saved my family

Flashback

I was in the library cause I couldn't sleep so I decided to read a book by the fireplace. With my cat, Dawn walking with me by my side I sat down on the chair near the fireplace  I then picked up a book and started reading. My cat was silently sitting on my dad's desk while staring at the fire.

The library is also sort of my dad's office that's why he's office desk is here. That's where he reads and write books, and where he does his work.

Moments later, I started to feel my eyelids getting heavier. So I decided to call it a night. So I put down the book I was reading and put off the fire and walked out of the library. I didn't bother calling Dawn because I knew that she will follow me anyways.

On my way to the stairs I heard a noise halfway through my steps. With a slight curiosity, I slowly walked towards from where the noise came from—it came from outside.

I then walked to the front door. I opened the door and there I saw a rabbit wearing a suit and a spectacle with a pocket watch in hand staring at me. As I walked down the front steps I slowly approached it.

"Hello, little rabbit." I said as I reached out my hand to it. It slowly stepped back.

"Aww. Don't be afraid." I said and then the rabbit went hopping away from me and into the garden.

With curiosity growing big inside me, I followed the rabbit into the garden. I saw the rabbit sniffing a red rose and I tried my best to sneak on it but it noticed me right away.

With the rabbit ocassionally stoping, I attempted to get a closer look at it but everytime I try it will hop and hop away from me.

After a couple of futile attempts to get closer to it, it finally stopped and a triumphal grin formed on my lips. I took a few steps closer to the little rabbit. I stopped midway through my tracks when the rabbit spoke making me gasp.

"Alice, we meet again." Said the rabbit while slowly changing its form and voice. The small rabbit grew to at least 3 feet taller than me. His feet became bigger along with his hands that seemed like claws because of the long sharp nails.

The harmless-looking rabbit was just a facade although it did remind me of wonderland.......wait this is familiar.......he IS the rabbit from wonderland! But he did not look like a monster in any way, but now he looked so different.

His cute innocent face now turned gruesome and his suit is now all ripped and there are tears here and there. He then spoke again with a now old and dry voice

"How long has it been 2, 3, 4 years since you've last visited wonderland? What happened, Alice? Did you forgot about us? Did you forgot about wonderland? Or maybe you don't believe in it anymore. He said while taking steps towards me.

"No! I did not forget about wonderland!" I said saying half the truth. Why half the truth? Its because I did quite forgot about wonderland.

"Liar! You did forget about wonderland! If you didn't then you should've kept visiting" he shouted back at me

"I may have forgotten it in my mind but never in my heart. Never had and never will" I replied sternly. He huffed and said

"If it wasn't for you not visiting wonderland. Wonderland could've still been in good state right now. You're the only one who could help us but where were you? He said. His voice cracking at the end of his words and tears slowly forming in his eyes.

"What? Tell me, rabbit. What happened to wonderland" I demanded

"Evil took over wonderland after you left. For some people you have forgotten them and gone mad. Gruesome, atrocious, hideous, horrid-looking creatures lurk everywhere around wonderland." I frowned completely confused.

"Tell me more, rabbit. I need to know more. Explain to me what else happened to wonderland in my absence." I pleaded but he only shook his head.

"There's no time to explain. His coming for you" he said starting to panic

"What? Who? Who's coming for me?" I asked still trying to make out whats happening

"No time. Go run, Alice! Run!" Rabbit said

"But rabbit?" I protested

"Run, Alice! Just do as I say!" He shouted and I did what he told me to. I went running out of the garden and I gasped at the horrid view right in front of me.

Our house...its...its...burning down with my family in it! I landed on my knees in disbelief of what's happening right now. Warm tears streamed down my face like an endless waterfall but I was still staring blankly at the burning house.

Officials came but it was too late to save them or anything else. I saw them taking out the burnt, lifeless bodies out of the house. I saw each one of them, my Ma, my Pa, and my sister, Lily.

I felt hands on my shoulders slowly walking me away from the burnt house.
