I walked in the open automatic doors and I saw a slightly younger women than my mother standing by the hand sanitizer and masks. "Welcome to the hospital, do you have an appointment? ER, or the fourth floor?" She asked super quickly. I shrugged.
"Okay, I guess I'll take you up to the fourth floor, then. Follow me and I'll check you in." She said kindly. By the way she talks, I'd say she's about 30.

I followed her unsurley, trying not to get too comfortable with the situation. I passed several hospital rooms, sick patients and worried accompany of all ages occupied most. A polite wave from some, a glance of affection from others. In return, I'd smile kindly back, like I did to every room, even if I thought no one noticed me. Maybe someone was looking? A smile from a little stranger boy would be nice.

At the very end of the hall, sat a stainless steel elevator, and across from it was the set of stairs. I turned to begin walking up the stairs, but the kind lady stopped me. "Sweetie, let's go up the elevator. 4 sets of stairs is quite a long walk, especially since ours are very steep." I nodded as she placed her hand on my back, creating a little warm spot in the center of my spine while she gently pushed me forward toward the elevator.

We stood in the elevator alone and in silence for about 2 floors. Approaching the third floor, she turned to face me. "What's your name, sweetie?" She asked. She says sweetie a lot. Like my mom. "Kingly, but my mom and dad normally call me King, and my friends. You can too," I stopped my thought for a second, "if you want," I finished quietly. She nodded and began to speak, "My name's Lila, just so you know. You can call me that, or Ms. Thornberry, it doesn't matter. Some prefer formal speak, others prefer casual." She glanced a look at the top of elevator; it read in pixelated red letters, "3". Silence sprung between us once again. Hopefully Lila isn't always this quite, especially if I have to spend lot's of time with her.

These chapters are so short! But I wanted to get something out there. I'll try to get chapter 3 longer.
