Did you ever realize how nauseating the smell of kettle corn and corndogs are?

The carnival lights gave me a head ache and the screams of desperate carnies didn't help either.

My head was already pounding and we had only been there for 2 minutes. I dodged people left and right, trying to follow Tyler's bouncing curls through the crowd. We walked across the fair grounds until we approached a group of people leaning  against the  exterior wall of the bathrooms, which I could practically smell from there.

Tyler squealed and hugged all the girls, and shouted some greeting at the guys. I recognized a few from school; Bethany Mitchell, Hanna Salone and some guy who I was pretty sure was named jeffery.

Just then, I saw him

Tyler introduced me to each of the people one at a time, but I barely payed any attention. I wanted to know his name.

"And this , is Dylan." She said at last.

He sat slouched against the brick wall, not talking to anyone, a bored expression plastered across his face. His black hair swooped above his forehead and his blue eyes bounced from person to person, trying to keep up with the conversation. He was gorgeous. Or at least he was, until he opened his mouth.

"sup' baby" he spat.

I was appalled. How could something that glowed as much as he did, have a vocab worse than middle school age boy.

Tyler must've saw the look on my face because she leaned in towards me and whispered "give him a chance"

Haha. Like I'd ever give anyone that annoying a chance. I watched as he glanced towards me and slowly looked me up and down. I rolled my eyes and turned toward Tyler and some girl, pretending to be interested in their conversation.

Some boy in a red hoodie called out over the group "Let's go on the monster!"

Immediately the group whooped in agreement, and the blob of people began to move towards "the monster" a fucking humongous roller coaster in the centre of the carnival. I don't know how they got that beast up in the matter of two days, but I'm guessing it probably wasn't the safest contraption in the world.

I reluctantly followed the group towards the line up.

I grabbed Tyler by the arm, "I'm not going on that thing, I'll wait here for you guys."

Tyler smirked and rolled her eyes. "Ok fine by me." she said as she stepped up on the coasters wooden boarding platform.

Dylan noticed me and turned towards Tyler. "Hey Tye, what's your friend doing outta line?" He asked.

"She has a slight fear of rides" Tyler laughed "so she won't be accompanying us on the monster this evening."

"I'll wait with her" Dylan says to my horror. "Wouldn't want her to get kidnapped or anything"

"What a great idea Dylan!" Tyler says, a little to cheerfully. Her dark eyes dart to me and a menacing grin sweeps across her face.

Dylan locks his eyes with mine and jumps down off of the platform. He walks over and stands a little too close to me, and lifts his hand to stiffly wave goodbye to our companions.

The second the roller coaster zoomed off, Dylan turns to me and smiles. Even though I already don't like him, his perfect white teeth and sharp jaw line make my insides flutter.

"what do ya wanna do now?" He asks, his voice deep and somber.

"Nothing with you, that's for sure." I shoot back, moving my gaze to a little boy carrying a stuffed animal 2x the size of him.

Dylan rolls up the sleeves of him gray hoodie, " I say we have some fun.."
