Execrable Fate
The ticking of the clock takes precedence of the silence inside the room.
Hesitant light streams in through the window, casting huge silhouettes on the wall. The room is filled of bloody red sight. It was because of the rubicund elixir spilled all over my chamber. In the corner of my eye lies the trickling of the elixir from its shattered ampoule that resonate a surreal reminiscence of my childhood.
"Eriya.." A woman in classically simple strapless dress of pure white embroidered silk enveloped me into a hug and planted a kiss on my cheek.
"Mother, look I've found dad's amulet!" my younger self putting up a mischievous grin break free from the warm embrace and ran towards the nearby river. He stoops to reach the beaming ruby amulet.
I restrained myself from reminiscing until a sharp sensation pierced through my body leaving me breathless and thirsty. I reached for the rubicund elixir but I withdraw my hand quickly as the broken fragments pierced through my hand. The blood rushing out of my wound kept me in daze as the memories flooded back.
It was twilight when my younger self perceived a bizarre instinct of loitering around the manor. An eerily feeling ran through my spine as I amble towards my parents' chamber. I spot a pitch black smoke sliding from their room so I swiftly ramble and barged in. I covered my mouth as I insight a horror image of the room splattered with blood and lifeless bodies of my parents. There were bite marks on their neck. A silhouette suddenly appeared in front of me and dropped me unconscious..
I shook my head trying to overcome that gruesome experience as I noticed my hand healed already. Perplexed, I stumbled towards the window as the luminous beam of the moon reflect upon my eyes evoking the night I had my first fit, the same painful piercing I have been going through right now.
That night on my 12th birthday, the moon was full and bright. I was puzzled with the changes stirring throughout my body. I've acquired senses over an average person. I have obtained such infrequent strength, talents, skills and a lot more. But once the sun meets the horizon, I have a discerning lust for a beverage, a drink to quench my thirst. I have drunk a lot of water but nothing seems to satisfy this craving.
I tried to focus my attention on the luminescent lamp placed over the mini-table beside the torn bed. Then it hit me. Amber. I tried to stand up having my fist clutching over my chest, as my whole body heats up, my eyes glow red and I lumber towards the door and found Kirstein looking at me in a compassionate way.
"How is she?" My voice was hoarse and at the same time shaky.
"She's out cold. But she'll be fine" He wore a smile but his eyes were blank.
"How the hell could you say that? You think that will make me feel better?" I launch at him and grabbed his shirt. His white tee is now covered with blood tainted by these hands, he looked at me nonchalantly and I loosen my grip.
"Eriya, It's not your fault. You're.."
"I don't need any of your petty lies right now, Kirstein. I want the truth of who I am. I want to know how the hell I got into this situation. And I want to know how I'd get my life back." I scowled at him.
"Get your life back? You're not even alive.." A chuckle was heard behind Kirstein. A guy in a peculiar clothing slid in. Derek. "You're Immortal."
My vision started to faltered again, my attention was caught by his tacky outfit that strike a chord of what happened in the Halloween party I'd been to.
Immortal... You're immortal...
The cicadas noisily flying in the porch over a dim light as a wine glass breaking to spill blood red wine over the hot chick on a Goth undead costume. Everybody was engulf by the screaming blast of Halloween melodies as they writhe their bodies entangled with the music.
A sudden sting took over my chest, I couldn't breathe. I'm thirsty. I furrowed my brow and I felt my heart clenching tight.
A hand rested on my shoulder, "Are you having fun, Eriya?" Amber said, biting her lower lip. She wore a black-purple laced witch costume. I gave a smirk checking her out from head to toe. "What?" She raised her eyebrow, holding back a giggle. I simply nod and chuckle a bit with her.
"You smell like alcohol. Did you drink again?" I whisper to her ear. She giggled, playing with her strawberry blonde hair.
"No." She said, smiling innocently.
"Yeah. You're drunk alright." I lifted her up and swiftly head to the back door to get some fresh air.
"I'm fine, put me down!" she demanded.
She kept on struggling until we reached the backyard of the house which contains the pool and a garden full of beautiful flowers. Flinn, the one who threw the party sure is such a rich kid.
"Feeling better?" I put her down gently, she lumps herself in the corner of the pool.
"Yeah." She suddenly became silent, keeping a steady gaze on the pool. I cleared my throat and took her hand.
"What's miss-talk-non-stop being quiet about?" I smirked, kissing her hand.
"Eriya." She caresses my cheek. Tears started to form in her eyes.
"Amber, Is there something wrong?" I held her gaze and patted her. It must be the effect of the alcohol.
"I'm so sorry. I sold you out. I didn't know we'll end up like this." She spoke too fast I didn't understand a thing.
"Talk slowly, I can't understand a thing."
"Eriya, I love you and you should leave no-"
She jolted and hastily drop her head as she looked down to her throat seeing it bleeding non-stop. She held her neck to stop it from bleeding.
My eyes widened as she pushed me away.
She opened her mouth, mouthing. "GO NOW" She wrote in the tiles with her blood "You're in danger"
"I can't just leave you like this, Am-" I tried getting closer but she shook her head and a tear flowed on her pink cheeks then, she burst in flames.
My jaw clenched as I reminisce her.
"You're a vampire, Eriya." Derek nods as if he finds it amusing I'm puzzled up with my thoughts. "Shut up" I growled at him.
"And you're in danger. That's why we decided to move out. I have manipulated their memories so your Halloween party had never happened." Kirstein assured me.
"What about Amber? What happened to her?" I asked hesitantly.
"That, I do not know. I'm so sorry, Eriya.."
I jumped out of the conversation and locked into my room.
He knocked. "Eriya, drink the rubicund elixir. It will satisfy your thirst for blood without having a host. It will also prevent you from having lust to human blood."
I buried myself on my bed. And let myself doze off and forget about these burdens.
