9: I'll Always Be Here By You

It was the late afternoon when Millie had taken Jongin out. They dropped off Kang Woo with Kai's approaching so that they kids could play together.

They strolled the streets of Seoul together walking toward their destination. Jongin looks down at Millie's hands. Oh how they reminded him of Sarang. It just keeps hurting to know that no matter what he does he can't have Sarang back and even is Millie looks like her she's not her.

"resemblance?" Millie broke him out of thought. She looks at him baby eyes.

"Huh? Oh.. Ne?" He makes eye contact with her too.

'We're here!" She smiles brightly moving out of the way revealing a magical atmosphere of colorful lights hung in the trees that surrounded a lake. Each different light reflected in the lake causing shimmers of rainbow rays all over the park.

"Whoa.. " Jongin was speechless.

"Pretty huh? This is my favorite part of Christmas." Millie giggles.

"The lights?" Jongin turns to face her.

"Ne and all the cou-.. uh family and friends walking around together." She lifts her head to meet his eyes.

"Then how about we go for a walk and enjoy tonight?" He smiles his cute smile at her.

"U-Uh ne." Millie quickly averts her eyes from him. Jonging chuckles and grabs her wrist. He softly slides his hand into hers. She did the same. Both of them wander through the festive Christmas lights hand in hand. It started to get colder and darker once nightfall hit.

"A-choo!" Millie sneezes

"Oh are you getting sick?" Jongin cups her cheeks.

"U-Um I'm okay." Millie shyly smiles pulling away.

"Are you sure? It's getting late. We should head home."

"Yeah. We should."

"Wait a moment." Jongin stops her in her tracks. He reached into his pocket and pulls out a puzzle piece necklace. "This is for you."

"Aw cute!" She smiles bubbly. 

"You didn't let me finish." He softly chuckles. He places it around her neck making them inch closer together. The heat on Millie's face starts to rise just like the beat of Jongin's heart. "There we go." Millie lifts up the piece and stares at it admirably. She looks up to see Jongin holding a similar piece. 

"I have the other side to it, it's a symbol of our friendship. With this it means I'll never separate from you."

A smile appears on Millie's lips while she stares at Jongin. 

"I'm glad, and I will never separate from you too Jongin because you are an important person to me." 

"promise?" 

"I promise." The two link pinkies.

New Years was approaching and Jongin was in a fuss trying to figure a way on how to convey his feelings to Millie considering he didn't really get to say what he wanted on Christmas. Talk about friendzone. 

"Kyungsoo what do you think I should do?" 

"Why are you asking me?" 

"Well you have a girlfriend and I find that hard to believe that you got a girlfriend before me." 

"Yah! Kim Jongin maybe because of your dumb remarks you don't have one." 

"I'm just kidding hyung." 

"Sure you were." 

"I just.. I just really like her. I want to be able to tell her on New Years and start a new year with her." 

"Jongin, what do you like about Millie?" 

"I.. I don't know how to describe it in words. Feelings are hard to put in words." 

"Jongin, have you ever thought of liking Millie just because she reminds you of Sarang?" a moment of silence was blanketed upon the conversation. 

"What?" 

"I mean.. I stare at her thinking she's my little sister but she's not. It's hard accepting that fact but I hope you don't like Millie because of her resemblance to my sister. I know how much you liked Sarang." 

"Sarang and Millie are different. They may not be physically but inside, they are." 

Before Kyungsoo could answer his phone rings. He picks up and after a few seconds his eyes grow big. Even bigger than they already are. His phone slips from his hands and he faces Jongin. 

"Millie and Kang Woo.. they're gone."
