There once was a young girl who lived on Anderson Drive. Her name was Alex Carter. She was a little soul that was often confused. Every night she would be woken up by her parents screaming at each other; she never understood what exactly was going on between the two. One night she just couldn't take it anymore. She got up out of bed and went into her parents' bedroom and found her mom lying on the floor crying with blood on her forehead. When Alex tried to exit the room, she was stopped my her drunk father, Kevin.

"And just what exactly do you think you're doing?" asked Kevin.

Alex just ran out of the room as fast as she could. As she ran out of the bedroom and down the stairs to her room, she quickly grabbed all of the things she could gather in her tiny hands that she felt she needed for survival. Yes, that's right. She was going to run away. As she quickly scrounged around for everything she could think of, she heard her father coming down the stairs. She had to act fast, so she looked around and ran for the closet. She made it in the closet just in time before her father entered the room.

Kevin asked, "Where are you, you little brat?!"

Alex didn't know what to do, so she just sat there silently crying. Kevin then started to search the room. As Alex just sat there she could hear Kevin getting closer and closer to her hideout place. Then all of a sudden, Alex didn't hear anything anymore. It was silent. She thought this would be a  good time to try and leave and find help from someone, anyone. But then, she heard footsteps. Then out of no where the closet doors flew open. Kevin yanked Alex out of the closet and screamed in her face.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!"

Alex didn't answer him.

He screamed it again. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!"

Alex had no clue what to do. There she was, awoken by her parent's screaming, finding her mother on the floor crying and bleeding, and now her father is trying to kill her.

After thinking of the consequences, Alex softly replied, "Nothing, I just.."

Alex stopped mid-sentence in fear. Kevin had pulled out a gun.

"YOU HAVE THREE SECONDS BEFORE I PULL THIS TRIGGER!"

He started counting. "One..."

"Two..."

Alex tried to buy some time, "I..."

"Three!"

BANG BANG!! Alex fell to the floor. All she could see was the red pool of blood running down her face and could see Kevin walking off headed for the stairs. Alex was so hurt, tired, and confused. She then heard Kevin yelling upstairs.

"I HOPE YOU'RE DEAD, KAREN!!"

Alex started crying once again, and then everything went black.
