I woke up to hear a bang downstairs in the kitchen. I slowly stepped out of my bed and crept silently to grab my softball bat and then down the carpet stairs. I saw a faint light and someone bending down by the fridge. I sneaked over to the counter and raised the bat just as someone flipped on the lights.

“George! What do you think you’re doing?!”My mother yelled as she inspected the situation.

“Just a late night snack” My dad explained. “By the way, we really need to raise the ceiling.” My dad was like a giant. He was 9 foot 7! How is that not normal! As for my mom, she is probably the most beautiful woman I have seen.  I don’t see how a giant man and a beautiful woman go together.  Just then my little (and annoying) brother walked down the stairs wearing his usual Pokémon pajamas and his WELLS FARGO t-shirt.

“What’s going on?” Jack moaned lazily. By the time he was downstairs I was the only one in the kitchen. “Cindy, why do have your bat?”

“Uh… no reason” I lied as we walked up the carpet stairs back to bed.

The next morning I woke up late. 11:00 I think. I stalked down the soft carpet stairs and walked into the kitchen, where a note was taped on the fridge.

Be back soon, went to the store

-Mom and Dad

I couldn’t help but know that that was weird. First of all, Mom doesn’t go to the store, she prefers calling it a “market”. Second of all, Mom doesn’t take Dad to public because he stands out too much. Third of all, Mom and Dad don’t trust us home alone. I walked over to the TV to discuss it with Jack but I can’t stand talking to the annoying little 10 year old. The thing is, Mom and Dad couldn’t have written that letter.

Later that day, it must’ve been 3:00; I heard a knock on the door. I didn’t know whether or not to answer the door, considering we were home alone, so I answered the door. The last thing I saw was three little pigs.

“Cindy?” I heard a voice say. “Cindy get up you fainted and there are some guys who want to talk to us.” I thought I must have been dreaming when I sat up. The pigs were back.

“Hello, Cindy” The first pig said.

“W-who are you and what to you want?” I stammered. “Is this some kind of joke?” “Or are you a killer on the loose!” I couldn’t help but think I was going insane.

“It’s ok they will explain everything, I already know!” Jack bragged as he took an enormous chomp out of an apple.

“Ok, I’ll give it a shot, I guess” I exclaimed nervously.

The first pig talked first, “Your parents are in grave danger!”

Then the second pig, “They have been kidnapped!”

Finally the third spoke, “By our worst enemy!” All I understood that my parents had been kidnapped, and that’s all I needed to know. I started for the door when the first pig stopped me.

“Wait! You need to know what to do!”

“For the Quest!”

“To save your parents!” They all had explained to me.

“Ok, tell me what to do” I moaned. If my parents were in danger, I wanted to go now not stay listening to some pigs blab about a ‘Quest’. Only the first pig spoke now.

“You need to go to the top of Jack’s beanstalk and travel among the crowds to find the nest of Mother Goose; she shall help you get to the Big Bad Wolf’s cave, where your parents are held.”

“Big Bad Wolf, beanstalk, Mother Goose, got it, let’s go Cindy!” Jack said excitedly as he ran to the door. Finally, I thought.

“Are you ready?” Jack asked me.

“No” I replied.

“Me neither, let’s go!” He exclaimed as if nothing was wrong at all. As we set out on our journey to save our parents, I looked back at the house sitting there in Holland, Michigan wondering if it’d be the last time I ever saw it.

We set out on our journey, but about 2 minutes in I realized something.

“Jack, do we know where the heck we’re supposed to go?” I questioned.

“Uh….Um…Uh…No” he replied finally. I thought about what the first pig had said. But of course! The pigs said something about a beanstalk so…

“We need to find a guy who sells magical beans.” I said out loud.

“What?” Jack exclaimed.

“So we have to go to the market!” Jack pointed out proudly. “No one would sell magical beans at the grocery store.” True, I thought. As we set off towards the marketplace I wondered how difficult this task would be. Climbing a beanstalk? I wondered what would encounter us on the way.  I had spoken too soon.
