"Tell me my favorite story, mama." Davey would ask her mother while being tucked into her little pink bed.
"But it's awfully late for a ghost story." Her mother chuckled.
"Please!I love it!"
"Alright but I don't want you crawling into my bed because your scared afterwards."
"I won't!" Davey giggled.
"There was once a little boy named Dante who lived in a dark castle. This was no ordinary boy, this boy had no soul! Now poor Dante lived alone with his maids and butler because his parents had died mysteriously. The maids and butler pointed fingers toward Dante but who would believe a boy had anything to do with his parent's death. All Dante desired was to have a soul of his own so badly, his eyes would turn toward his staff. Nobody shed a tear when their bodies laid cold and their souls remaining trapped in the castle. Dante wasn't satisfied. Years would pass as family members and friends would visit his castle, but never leave as they too joined the maids and butler. They still weren't what he wanted in a soul. Pretty soon his eyes would fall upon the village below the castle, he would collect the men and woman, even children until the village was a mere ghost town. Still he did not find what was looking for. As Dante grew older, his heart became black and whatever humanity he had was now gone. He would remain in his castle with the many souls that inhabited it. To this day he is still alive in that castle, awaiting his next victim... To join his soul collection!" Her mother would finish.
"That was scary!" Davey would say peeking out from under the blankets.
"That's why I hate telling it to you at night, my princess."
"He ain't getting my soul!"
"No he isn't, not with mommy and daddy around," said her mother with a kiss on her forehead as she tucked her in.
"Yes...You guys aren't afwaid of a scary man..." Davey yawned.
"No, we're not. Goodnight and sweet dreams."
"Night..night.." Davey would fall asleep as her mother left the room.
