The soft grass wrapped around the sole of her boots as she approached the newly installed grave. The dirt was still fresh and was a rich darkened brown color. The loss of someone she cared for was evident on Kaia's face. Her eyes were still red and puffy from the amount of crying she did at the funeral just a few hours before. She also had dark circles under her eyes that resulted from lack of sleep.

Every time she closed her eyes, she was standing back in the burning apartment watching Jess die. She was frozen in her spot and couldn't do anything, but watched. She usually ended up screaming in her sleep, so someone always had to wake her up. That person had been Dean most nights, since Sam seemed to be disappearing in the middle of the night. He returned in the morning in a similar state to Kaia, but ten times worse.

The guilt was eating him up while Kaia was only grieving for the first time in her life. She had lost people, but never someone that meant as much to her as Jess did. She was taught to keep her emotions hidden and stay grounded. Growing up, Kaia didn't get the opportunity to cry over a loss. She was expected to move on and forget about it.

She didn't know how the handle all the emotions that came with a death.

Kaia stopped in front of the grave, kneeling down on the grass beside the fresh dirt. Her eyes run over the grave, reading the engraving, "Jessica Lee Moore, Beloved Daughter, January 24th 1984 -- November 2nd 2005."

There was a small picture of Jess smiling set into the stone above her name along with a framed black-and-while photo of the girl, which rested against the stone between a white teddy bear and a wooden box with a crucifix leaving on the picture. There was a small American flag next to the bow and three candles standing on the grave stone.

Kaia let out a deep breath as she gained the courage to speak. "I'm so sorry, Jess. This was never supposed to you. You should be alive right now and happy with Sam." She remarked, holding back the tears that threatened to spill.

She paused, gaining control back over her emotions before she continued. "When I first arrived to Stanford, I never thought I could have a normal life. Hunting was all I knew. Then, I met you and Sam. You guys showed me that I could move on from my past." She stated.
