"I have a grande chai tea for Brooke, and a grande dark blend coffee for Connor" the starbucks barista shouted.
I reached my hand out to grab my drink and slightly brushed the other hand going to grab the steaming cup next to mine. “Sorry,” A kind voice replied. “Its fine” I said not looking up as I banged my straw on the counted as an attempt to remove the wrapper.
I turned to start walking to my booth in the corner when I stepped on the same guy’s shoe nearly falling over, but I caught myself as I gripped on to his arm.
“Sorry!” we both said in sync. I lifted my head and stared into the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen. We booth giggled, I was still holding on to his arm.
“Do you mind if I join you” he said and gestured to the booth I had been sitting at. “A little company would be wonderful.” I said with a big smile on my face, I wasn’t about to deny this gorgeous boy. We walked to the booth and slid in on opposite sides.
“I’m Connor” he said with a grin. “Brooke.” I returned. I pointed at the luggage claim tag on the lap top case he had been carrying, “Are you new to LA?” I asked. “Yeah I moved down here about 2 weeks ago” he said confidently.
“Well welcome!” I said giggling. “I actually just moved down here about a month ago” I stated.
“What brings you here?” he questioned.
“I really want to peruse my modeling career.” I said proudly.
I had done a few modeling ad’s for clinque, maybeline and I modeled clothes for Brandy Melville’s online website, but I really wanted to do more. My dream was to be a victorias secret angel but I had a long way to go. But if you can dream it you can do it. I recently moved to California last month after I had been traveling between here and Arizona for what feels like years, and once I graduated I finally moved out here for good. I have my own apartment by myself, and took whatever modeling job I could find. I loved the feeling of being independent.
Connor raised an eyebrow at my response, “Modeling? I believe it” he said smirking. “Im going to take that as a compliment… Thank you.” I said blushing.
I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging but being hit on wasn’t a new thing for me, I live in LA for god sakes. This city is full of a lot of creepy losers. But Connor was definitely different then the other weirdos that hit on me, he seemed so sincere. And he was actually extremely good looking unlike the others. I swear I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a model as well. And I actually felt butterflies when I looked into his eyes, and I never get that feeling. I twirled my long brown waves around my finger, and batted my light blue eyes. I let out a laugh to break the silence and kept the conversation flowing.
“Why did you move out here?” I asked very interested. I loved getting to know people. I was an extreme people person.
“I actually am a youtuber.” He said taking a sip of his coffee. “Like Jenna Marbles?” I asked, she was the only YouTuber I really knew of. “Yeah! Well minus the cussing, makeup, and the dogs…” He said laughing. “What’s your channel name?” I asked curiously. “Well I actually have 3 channels actually. ConnorFranta, ConnorFranta2, and this channel called Our2ndLife, where I make videos with my best friends.” He replied. He pulled out his macbook from his laptop case and turned the screen towards me, it was his youtube page, I examined it. “500,000 sub’s? Geeze you’re like famous” I said in amazement. “Haha not really but it is my job, and I love doing it.” He smiled and shut his macbook putting it back in the case. “That’s really impressive Connor.” I said as I sucked the last little bit of Chai tea out of my cup.
I caught him looking out the window as the sun was going down. “I swear the sun sets get prettier each night” I said quietly and watched the sun rise closer to the ocean. “Wanna go enjoy it?” He asked. “I’d love that” I said nodding my head. I slid out of the booth and followed Connor out the door. We walked to this little orange kia soul parked by the curb, he opened the back seat and put his laptop on the seat and shut the door.
“Shall we?” He asked gesturing the cross walk leading to the beach. “We shall” I said linking my arm with his.
We spent the next hour or so walking up and down the shore as the sun set, getting to know each other better. I learned a little bit more about YouTube, and I taught him a little bit about modeling, and how it works. He told me about Minnesota and college and we talked about Arizona and my family. It was picture perfect.
We were sitting in the sand looking across the water. I pulled my oversized Wildfox cardigan over my chest and crossed my arms.
“Are you cold?” Connor said laughing. “Its like 75 degrees outside” He said laughing even harder. “Hey I’m an Arizona girl, this is like winter” I said laughing with him. “Well I guess this is my queue” He said and wrapped his arm around me pulling me closer.
I felt so safe with Connor, like I’ve known him forever. We could keep a conversation going on forever, and we could joke like we were best friends. I was really falling for him and we only met 3 hours ago.
