Chapter One - Harry (-6 degrees)
I groaned, not wanting to get up for school. I'd be content with just staying home, sitting on the back patio with a nice cup of hot chocolate, looking for my wolf. Spring was coming, which meant the pack would be leaving soon. I had no clue where they went, all that matters is that they came back in the winter.
Reluctantly, I pulled the warm duvet off of me, shivering when my feet hit the freezing floor. I pulled off my sweatpants, kicking them to the side, and pulled on a pair of jeans. I picked out a dark blue long-sleeve shirt, throwing a hoodie on over it, as well as a beanie, and my snow boots. The cold didn't bother me much, I quite liked it.
"Bye, mum." I kissed her cheek, grabbed my keys, and walked out of the front door. As I was getting into my car, I saw her, sitting by a tree. Before I had time to think what I was doing, I was walking across the yard, towards the wolf - a wild one at that. She tilted her head to the side, but didn't run away, or look like she was going to attack me.
I stopped a few feet away from her, watching her stand. Instead of running away like I had expected, she slowly came to me. She sniffed the hand I held out, then nuzzled against it. I slowly stroked her fur, memorized by how soft it was. Movement in the bushes caught my eye, and she seemed to notice it, too.
In a flash, the black wolf had me on the ground, his paws on my chest. My eyes widened in fear as he bared his teeth, growling loudly. My wolf snarled, which caused the black one to get off of me, both disappearing back into the forest. Standing, I shook the snow from my body, I frantically ran to my car, driving off to school.
When I got there, Niall and Liam were waiting in Liam's car, which was parked beside mine. I hopped out, being careful not to slip on the snow, I got into the backseat of the his car, beaming.
"What're you so happy about?" Niall laughed, raising his eyebrows at me. Liam looked at me expectantly, which I gave in to.
"She let me touch her today." I began, smiling slightly to myself. "My wolf, guys. She didn't run off."
I think they thought I was crazy, but frankly, I don't give a damn. I'm sure they said something back, but I wasn't paying attention - I was lost in my own thoughts. We soon got out of the car, dreading classes today. Moping around for a bit, we were filled in on every latest gossip from the weekend.
I didn't care about it, it was probably all lies. So and so went to prison, such and such did each other, whatever. During first class, my mind drifted back to my encounter with my wolf, and the black one. Where wolves supposed to be protective over each other? Maybe they're mates or something.
The rest of the day drug along slowly, I wanted to beat my head on my desk in every class. There was one rumour I heard in the halls at the end of the day that got my attention - a wolf pack had attacked a young boy, resulting in one of them being shot. I stayed calm, praying that it wasn't my wolf. The boys were coming over this afternoon, so I'd get them to help me look for my wolf.
I drove home quickly, my breathing becoming erratic. It couldn't be my wolf, it just couldn't. Shortly after, we all pulled into the driveway, all running into the woods. I went alone, Louis and Niall were one pair, Liam and Zayn being the other. Mainly because I had hope that she'd come to me, if I was by myself, or the boys would at least get a glimpse of her.
We'd been looking for what felt like hours, and still haven't found her, or any wolf for that matter. Just as I thought I'd lost all hope, my phone rang. I felt my heart skip a beat, it was Louis.
"Hello? Did you find her?" I bombarded him with questions, all concerning my wolf.
"We found something. Meet us at the house. Pronto." That was all he said, then the line went dead.
I ran back to house, almost falling a couple of times along the way. Louis and Niall sat on the patio, but what was with them stopped my heart. With them, sat a girl, her side covered in blood. She was wearing a pair of denim shorts and a light blue shirt, I'm not sure how she hasn't gotten frost bite yet.
"We've to get her inside. Niall, you go find Liam and Zayn, yeah?" I commanded, picking her up carefully. Niall left, leaving me and Louis to tend to her. As she looked up at me, my breath hitched in my throat - she had the same eyes as my wolf.
I brought her into the washroom, slowly setting her onto the counter. She shook from the cold, her teeth chattering as she did. Her dark brown hair was damp, must've been from where she was in the snow. The girl didn't seem afraid of me, which shocked me slightly.
"What's your name, love?" I asked softly, looking for the first aid kit.
"Kelsey." She answered, still shivering. "I need to get warm, quickly."
"Run some water in the tub, alright?" Kelsey nodded, slowly sliding off of the counter. She turned on the water, then faced me once again. She remained quiet, sitting up on the counter again.
"Here, let me see your cut." I said, motioning for her to lift up her shirt. She did as told, pulling it up to right below her breasts, revealing something I didn't expect. A bullet wound, in one side and out of the other. I gasped quietly, and the boys bombarded into the washroom. Kelsey's eyes went wide, and she pulled her shirt down quickly.
"She's hot." Niall whispered at me, which I'm pretty sure Kelsey heard. I shooed them away, and she slipped into the tub, fully clothed. She seemed as if her life depended on staying warm, but I can't blame her, she was out in the snow for who knows how long.
Shortly after, she stopped shivering, and got out. I handed her a towel, then went to fetch her a pair of clothes. Thankfully, I found an old pair of sweats, and I gave her my hoodie with my football number on the back, and the team logo on the front.
"I'll be in the game room with the boys, it's right down the hall, alright?" She nodded, and with that, I left. There was something about her that I trusted, yet there was something she was hiding from us. She didn't say anything about how she got the cut, or why she was in the woods. Kelsey soon came into the game room silently, none of us noticed her until she sat beside me.
"We need to get you to the hospital, that cut looks blooming awful." I said to her, which she quickly shook her head to.
"No!" She almost shouted. "I erm..I can't go outside - into the cold, I mean." I raised an eyebrow at her. Why couldn't she?
"Why not? You just came from out there." Louis butted in, sounding a bit too harsh for my liking.
"Because it hurts." She muttered, earning the attention from all of the boys.
A/N: Ahhhhhh! Cliffhanger! Hahah, I'll update again soon. xx
