The surprises just never seemed to end, Cana thought as the pair made their way into the suit. She was pretty sure Jellals head was on a stick as it swiveled back and forth to take in the room.
She had seen the pair from shared pictures, and they had seemed normal enough. Now they looked like they were ready for battle in some action packed blockbuster. Erza, the scarlet haired beauty, was decked out in baggy camouflage pants, heavy combat boots and a tight black tank top. A large broad sword, of all things, was slung across the womans back and two silver pistols rested on her hips. Jellal was dressed similarly, though in place of a sword there was a shot gun on his back.
"Just what in the hell is going on? I don't like surprises and theres been enough of those today." Gajeel snapped, Cana could tell his patience was long gone. He pulled Wendy protectively into his side, though the girl was looking at Erza wide eyed in awe. She must have picked the womans mind and was amazed at what she heard. Erza grinned down at her and, Are her teeth pointed?
"Easy there Gajeel," Erza said, her accent thick and rich. "Lily told you about Etherios yes?"
"Only confirmed that he wanted us for our gifts," Levy supplied.
Erza nodded, "Very well. Etherios is the leader of an organization that calls themselves END. Each member posses their own unique gift like we do."
"You're both gifted too?" Natsu asked curiously.
Erza smiled, "Please hold all questions till the end," she teased. "Yes we are. Etherios has been a thorn in Lily's side for many many years. He has his own organization called Extalia. Unlike Etherios, he employees gifted and normal people alike. Etherios prizes strength, was raised to believe power is the way of all things. Ta him, those who are weak or without gifts," she looked at each of them, her face now serious. "Are ta be killed."
There were several gasps throughout the room as well as strings of curses. Cana knew all of her friends families were normal, that unlike her own family they weren't gifted. If this Etherios got what he wanted, their families would die.
The tension in the air was suddenly so thick, she could have sworn she heard Juvia choke. She gently took the womans hand, not looking away from Erza as she asked, "Then what do we do?"
"We-"
Jellal suddenly cursed and finally turned to look at the group fully. "Erza we have to go, Lily was right. There are seven bugs in the room, Etherios has been listening the whole time."
"How do you know?" Juvia asked nervously, her hand tightening around Canas.
"It's part of my gift, I'll explain more once we are safe. Now, get only the things you absolutely need, we need to leave." When everyone stared at him frozen he shouted, "Now!"
There was a flurry of activity as everyone split into their rooms, Cana tugging Juvia along and only letting go once they were inside. Cana dug a small sports bag out of her suitcase and stuffed a few clean clothes inside, her toiletries and her phone. She quickly threw her hair up in a ponytail so it was out of the way, and was swinging the bag onto her back when there was a small clutter from Juvias side of the room. Cana turned to see Juvia kneeling and trying to pick up her dropped paint tubes from the floor, her hands shaking.
