I set down a small neko charm on my bed, the adorable gift I had received from Jason, along with 20 bucks. It may not have been much, but any money was a lot of money for a college student.

My father had texted me earlier that morning, and I told him id go and lay down some ground rules – for cleaning.

"Mat, Kimi, I need you guys I the living room."

I heard Kimi laugh and complain about the two-hour speech she knew I was going to make.

"What is it clean freak?" Mat stood in front of me; hand on his hip like a dramatic supermodel.

"Your such a girl." I said, pointing at his chest. "All you need now is some fat right there."

"Hey!" He exclaimed.

"Sit dog." I heard Kimi shout from the foyer. Mat and I both turned around to face her, noticing she held Mat's beer.

"Hey! That's mine Kimi. You're still underage. Hand it over."

Kimi smirked and sprinted to the kitchen, where in one swift move, she jumped on top of the fridge, ears twitching and tail swishing from side to side.

"Kimi Leveque! Get your tail on the couch before I cut it off! And give Mat back his beer, your still underage!" I scolded her.

Kimi jumped down with her ears down and tail curled around her right leg.

"Sit." I ordered. Both Kimi and Mat sat down almost immediately, and sat through two hours on rules of cleanliness of the apartment.

~Time skip brought to you by Mat's beer~

Mat had consumed three extra beers by the time I had finished, and Kimi was fighting to stay awake.

"And lastly, I will have once a year to clean the entire place. And that includes your rooms."

Mat jumped up from his seat, slightly drunk, but still mostly sober.

"Who wants lunch?" Kimi asked, heading towards the kitchen.

Today was the first day of class, and it was freezing out. 53 degrees may feel like nothing to some people, but not us, coming from Hawaii and all.

"So what major do you people have again? Mat asked us.

"I'm gonna be a vet!" Kimi exclaimed.

"Author."

"You write? Since when? I thought you hated ELA!" Mat said, surprised.

"Since middle school. And I still do. It's a pain in the ass."

Mat just chuckled and faced back up front, counting cars like a child.

Kimi pulled into an empty parking space next to a blue Chevy and turned off the ignition.

"We're here."

I retrieved my bag out of the trunk and darted to the exit and down the concrete stairs before colliding into someone, resulting in the both of us collapsing to the floor.

"OI." He said, "Watch where you- Hey, don't I know you?"
