"Philly wake up honey." Phil stirs around in his pink flower themed bed, "5 more minutes please mommy." Phil's mum smiles fondly at the boy.

"Okay but if you want to get started on decorating sweetie you must get up." That certainly wakes up the little birthday boy.

Phil jumps up and grins widely, "Oh dear I forgot today is my birthday party." His mother giggles. "Well get up then your little friends will be here in about 2 hours, so let's get ready."

She plants a gentle kiss on his forehead and leaves. As soon as Philip heard the door close he bounced off of his soft bed and made it as fast as he can and walked to his closet to pick an outfit today.

As he pushes threw all his cute clothes he remembers what his father told him the night before.

Phil's father tells Phil if he can talk to him in private in his office, which Phil agrees to obediently.
They sit on his father's leather chairs and look each other in the eye. As Phil fathers goes to speak Phil swallows in fear of what the conversation might be about, since his father never gives him a non-serious talk in his office.

"Philip you remember when we said we got you your outfit for your party?" his father asks.

Phil grins widely nodding is head. " Yes i have father its going to look beautiful. I told you I wanted to go with a nice pastel pink shirt and a hot pink tutu with some-"

His father sighs cutting Phil off, he is definitely not pleased with having to crush his sons heart. Phil's father was very excepting of Phil's option of clothing since it wasn't his right of telling him that he couldn't express him self the way he wanted to.

"Listen Philip some people can very.....um what's the word?"

"Rude" a confused Phil said, not knowing what this conversation is about.

"Yes but they can also be very nice but in the world we live in today they don't quite understand how girls can like 'boy' things and boys can like 'girl' things." His dad says gently.

Phil nods but sadness can be seen in his face finally knowing where this conversation is going. "Well your mother and I think we should hold off the very pretty clothes just for tomorrow . We bought you a nice green button up flannel , some jeans and a pair of vans." But before Phil can protest his father continues to speak.

"I know you don't want to but Philip I just want what best for you okay, son." His father smiles sadly at him. Even though Phil is upset he smiles and says,

"Okay."

After the little meeting he had with his dad Phil went to his room and saw two outfits neatly folded with a pink note attached.
