Riley's POV:

Ben and I walk home in an awkward silence. I don't look at him and he makes no effort whatsoever to look at me either. We just stare at the ground or any piece of scenery surrounding us. I don't know why but I can sense someone's presence behind us.

I turn around to see Hayes walking about a block behind us. It's a little awkward to see him like this or just to see him in general. Normally if I saw him I would excuse myself from Ben to speak with Hayes, but now I'd much rather endure this awkward silence for another 10 minutes than speak with Hayes.

I don't think I could handle that.

We arrive at my house shortly after that. I walk up to my front door preparing myself because I know once I open that door, there's no going back. Once I open that door I'm going to be flooded with a bunch of questions from Eliza and there's going to be a lot of yelling and it's not going to turn out good.

I sigh loudly.

"Are you alright Riley?" Ben places his hand on my shoulder.

"Just peachy," I reply with an obvious sarcastic tone in my voice.

I unlock the door with my key pushing the door open. Just as I expected Eliza is waiting for me. She's sitting on one of the black leather seats drinking her lemonade.

"I've been expecting you," she announces in a dark mysterious voice. The lights are dimmed and she's circling her finger around the edge of the glass cup.

"Oh cut the crap and get to the point," I voice.

The lights switch on and she puts down her lemonade.

"What on Earth is going on with you Riley? One day you're head over heels in love with Hayes, and then next day you're broken up?" Eliza asks.

"I never said I didn't love him anymore," I reply.

"Buy you never said you still did," Eliza counters my argument.

I see Ben shifting his weight from one foot to another and him squirming in his position, but honestly Ben's feelings are the last thing on my mind right now. I know that he's been comforting me all day but I can't help but get the feeling that what he said earlier was a lie.

"Can we talk about this later?" I plead.

"This is later," she states boldly.

"Cut her some slack Eliza," Ben sticks up for me.

"Aw shutup Ben, we all know you're only sticking up for her because you like her," Eliza rolls her eyes.

"Do not!" Ben argues.

"Do to," Eliza yells back.

This goes on for another minute before I yell out in exasperation of my annoyance.

"Will you two cut it out already?" I yell.

They both stop instantly.

"Do not," Ben whispers.

"Riley can I talk to you....in private?" she stares at Ben in an icy cold glare.

"Whatever you want to say you can say it in front of Ben," I fold my arms.

"Okay, I think you two should get back together. In a few weeks you're going to look back on this moment and wish you would've listened to your heart and gotten back together with Hayes," she pleads.

"Eliza, have you once asked me what I thought?" I retort.

"No," she mutters. "I guess that's only fair. What do you want?"
