~Lace and a Friend~

Aimi's P.O.V.

We all stepped off the train, so Allen, Lavi, and Lenalee said there goodbyes, before separating to investigate the towns as they were instructed and planned to meet back in the same place. And as for me and the crabby, over-grown Freak, I chose to go ahead to keep a very generous distance of 100 feet from him. I cant help but think that if he's dead, I wouldnt have to be dragged around with his cranky as-

Suddenly, A little girl in a yellow silk dress with ratted shoes, walks in front of me, crying, "Help me find my bwothor! Pwease." Usually I'd be all suckered up by a sweet innocent little girl asking for my help. However, I had a feeling this sweet innocent little girl wasn't so sweet and innocent but when her hand had turned into a gun my suspicions were correct.

Shes an Akuma.

The feeling of panic set in and I know that if I were to try and kill this akuma I would hurt the people around me. So I turn around and my feet dart towards Kanda, leaving the akuma behind and hoping that I'd reach him in time.

Suddenly her purple bullets flew past me and all the people around started to flee away in terror. I have no choice but to fight because more than 20 akuma are now coming at me from all directions. I instantly get ready for battle when one of the akuma was sliced in half, then another right after.

Kanda's over-sized black boots were right in front of me and I looked up to see him pointing Mugen at all the akuma surrounding me, "What the hell are you doing Pipsqueak I thought you were supposed to be a skilled fighter. What a joke." I glare at him and his insults.

"I have an my reasons, and besides, I could kill you in battle with a blindfold on." Kanda just scoffed at my threat, so I stood up and started to walk away.

"Where the hell are you going?" He furiously blasted. "While you're busy, I'm going to go find the innocence."

Kanda attempts to flee and approach me but as soon as he turns his back the akuma strike relentlessly, "You're gonna get outnumbered again!" I sent a sweet smile his way, "Don't worry, my gigantic friend, you're going to be distracting them." I walk further away, listening to Kanda slicing the akuma and his endless complaining.

* * *

I lied to Kanda. I'm not searching for the Innocence.

My only friend lives in this town and i'll be damned to leave her in it if thousands of Akuma are headed here. She's sacrificed so much for me, lied down everything she had for me including her life. I haven't been in this town in a year but nothing's changed; Children still crowded near O'Grannie's Apples, All the shops had people continuously entering to buy something they didn't want yesterday, and just the overall atmosphere was always friendly in the streets. I really don't want to see it go.

I finally reach the familiar house on the edge of town, a bright blue painted cottage with the forest as the backward.

To make sure nothing was on my trail, I scout around the whole house. In my opinion, I always thought this place could blend in with the morning sky from how blue it was. I cautiously knock on the door, expecting nothing less than a deafening scream.

And like I guessed, a high-pitched scream screeched the second the door opened. The very same scream that I'd never be able to forget for the life of me. It belonged to the friend that reminded me of Kanda. The same friend that took me in while I was a helpless 10 year old and never left me defenseless.

Marika's arms wrapped around me and squeezed like an anaconda. Her strength has been natural, like mine. We both have always had more strength than our average peers, and although constricting, her hug gave me comfort and I can feel my stress slowly fading away.
