"Mama?" -Dylan calls her for the second time. "Mom!!" And he finally cuts her thoughts. "I've been talking here for like ten minutes and you're not even listening."
She smiles lightly before looking down.
"Hey.." David puts his hand on her lap, squeezing it a bit. "Are you alright?"
She just nods. But obviously, she isn't alright.
"Can I go to the powder room? My hair's so messy." -Pippa excuses herself.
"Me too!" -Dylan follows her sister.
David doesn't speak until the twins get out of their sight. He turns Patricia's seat so she can face him. He holds Patricia's hands and kisses them. "Tricia.. Is something wrong? Didn't you like the food? Or it's still about what Pippa said this morning?" He kisses them again. "Hmm?"
She keeps her head down. She bites her lips as she thinks if she should tell Dave about who she saw today or not.
"Huy."
She finally looks up. She looks straight into his eyes and smiles, then shakes her head. "Nothing serious. Really." She takes her hands back.
He sighs. All these years, Patricia would barely tell him about her problems. He's quite disappointed that she doesn't trust him enough yet. They've been friends for so long. Why can't she just trust me? He would always think. Is it still because of Migo? Goodness, that was thirteen years ago. Was he really THAT special to her that she couldn't forget him yet? "I'm used to it."
She raises her eyebrow and looks at him curiously.
"You not talking to me about your problems... Not letting me help you... And still not trusting me 100%. I'm used to it." He looks down and plays with his fingers. "But I've known you for so many years now. Do you really expect me to actually believe you when you say you're okay when you're not?"
She sighs and makes him look at her. "Dave, it's not that I don't trust you. But there are just some things that I can't tell you or let you know about." She smiles. "I know you know when I'm happy or when I'm sad. So let me ask you a favor. If you know I have problems but I refuse to tell you about them, just be there for me. Be there to try and make me feel better, like you always do. Please?"
He smiles before kissing her forehead. "I've always been here for you, Tricia. I will always be here for you. You know that right?"
She nods.
He smiles. "I know I've told you this many times. But I just always feel that you would forget so I can't help myself but to repeat and repeat it."
Her eyebrows meet.
"I'm willing to wait until forever, Tricia." He cups her face. "I've been waiting for so many years now, I know I can wait for many more."
She smiles lightly. "I know.." She takes his hands and pats them. "I know. And I thank you for that. Thank you for being so patient." -she adds.
He just stares at her as he enjoys the moment. Konti na lang, Tricia. He thinks. I know you will give in and fall for me too, one of these days. Konti na lang...
•••••••
Migo has been in his office the whole time, just walking here and there, since he got there. Why is she here? Didn't she go away for good? Why did she come back? He runs his fingers through his hair. And... Why did she just walk away after seeing me? It was thirteen years ago. I didn't think she would still be like this after so many years. He finally sits on his office chair and faces the big crystal clear window he has in his office and looks at nowhere instead of the busy streets outside the building. He closes his eyes and breathes deeply.
