I can't believe this. 'This' as in, basically, everything at the moment.

I scan back all that is going on...
A dream?
Certainly not, it would have been way more quickly paced than what now is.
Reality?
Probably, but, how could something be so memorable but yet very more frightening than once before? I can't remember a thing before wakening to a pitch-black room.

Well, I do remember my name quite well; Alice. I remember where I live; York Ave, London. And I remember my best friend and dearest cat's name; Dinah. But not events taken place in my life recently.

Oh, why does one make things difficult for those whose lives are going so well at that time? Was my life going well? How could I know when I don't know? Sigh...

Looking around and trying to find some type of clue or evidence that I could have missed I find only half of a small blue duffle coat with silver and gold buttons. Half. There lying where my head had been not long ago. How peculiar. I pick it up. The coat smells like dirt and smoke. It's so strong I feel a sneeze coming. I wonder what it would be like hearing that after all of this silence. Maybe comforting, maybe frightening. "AH-CHOO" I go. My sneeze was nothing but air, and hurt my dry, shriveled sinuses.

That makes me wonder how long I've been in this cold, dark and helpless world. Its four walls laugh at me in madness and I ponder walking back and forth--back bent--across this smooth, dusty floor. My high heels clink and echo upon each step as I decide what to do.
