Choices. They're all around me. Some of them I like & others I don't. Every choice leads you to a different path. Some paths good, others not so good. What makes these choices special is what future they hold. My list of choices started one night at my friend Lucy's party. Anyone & everyone was there. Lucy didn't ever mind, as long as she was popular for something. Me, well I'm just a "plain Jane". Literally. My name is Jane Hartmann & I'm probably the only average girl in Spalding High School. I've only been to two other parties of Lucy's. I only come for the humor in watching drunk people argue & squabble. Usually, people only come for the hookups, but tonight I'm assuming was different. Everyone said Lucy had something special planned for all of us. A new game, I hear. I'm not really interested. As I get up & tell my friends a great goodbye, Lucy confronts me. "Where do you think you're going, eh?" I never got over the fact she was Canadian & always said "eh" after every sentence. People got quite annoyed but had to suck it up if we wanted to go to her parties. "Well, uh, I was actually going home. I'm pretty tired & it's late enough for me." Lucy just chuckled. "Oh no yeh don't. You're staying here like the rest of our friends." I rolled my eyes. "Lucy, these aren't your real friends. They only like you because you throw some pretty rad parties." Lucy didn't look to enthusiastic about my comment. "You bitch!" she slapped me on the face hard enough I got a glimpse of Mars. I stared at her blankly & walked off.
