*Brittany*

"Ms. Winters; I need you to approach the stand now please."

Nodding, I took my time walking up to it; sitting down and getting my first look at Damien up close.

His eyes were the same piercing blue, calculating and cold. This time, there was something hidden though. It was almost a begging look; he was counting on our statements right now. He wanted us to prove that he didn't kill Sophie. The problem was, he could have, not that I had any evidence toward that. The wedding was Lexi's problem; all I had to talk about was last August.

"Please," He whispered.

"You don't have the right to talk to any of these women in this court, Mr. Frederick." The judge hissed; turning toward me.

My stomach was doing flips; all I had to do was tell them what they wanted to know. I wasn't going to be interrogated again.

"Ms. Winters, you were extremely close to Sophie Frederick; correct?"

"Yes, I was."

Short, simple responses. Nothing more than they ask.

"Were you the closest to her?"

"Yes," My voice had gotten soft; I had been the closest to her, and that was my mistake.

"Was the feeling mutual?"

"I... I don't think so."

My mind went through all of our memories; she had acted so well when it came to actually caring about me. Who knows what she really felt? I was just another person in her assignment, and the pain from knowing that began to sink it.

The judge stared at me expectantly; waiting for me to go on more about her.

"At first I thought she did. Then she started to show who she was to me. Everyone tried warning me too... that she had been giving them threats and would end up hurting me. I didn't believe it though; not until she tried something with me."

She sighed; pushing her glasses up onto her head before asking another question about Soph; hopefully it was the last.

"What did she do to betray you all? You most of all; everyone claimed you were the closest to each other."

Letting out a sarcastic laugh I mumbled, "Do you really need an explanation on what she did? She was working with Damien and his dad the whole time! She almost killed me and the others!"

The judge let out a sigh; giving me a look that said to settle this now. "You need to calm down or your statement won't count for anything; do you understand?"

I nodded, taking a deep breath and continuing; trying to block out the stares from Damien and my friends.

"With me, she didn't start to show who she was until after a fight Liam and I got into over her."

Tears were stinging the corners of my eyes; memories flashed through my mind. Her cold voice, her eyes exactly like Damien's when he'd been hurting me; cold and dead to the world. How she had tried killing me and Liam...

"Ms. Winters?" The judge sighed; obviously annoyed by my lack of attention.

"Wh-what?" My cheeks burned red; today wasn't going to get any better. "C-can you repeat the question please?"

"What did Mr. Frederick do to you last August? What happened down in that subway to you, and you only? Also, you need to start paying attention or you will be asked to sit back down. Do you understand this time?"
