Prolouge:

I ran forward screaming at the top of my lungs. My throat wretched in protest. I couldn't get away. No matter how hard I pushed, no matter how much my legs burnt, I couldn't go any farther. I couldn't win. It was going to catch me. It was always going to be gaining on me and there was nothing I could do. I came to the blackness, where I had to stop. There was nowhere else to go. Running would be useless to me now. I whipped around, my hair sticking to my forehead. My eyes widened as I realized the fate I'd seen coming, was just moments away. I closed my eyes. My killer stalked forward. I shrank into the wall...and it leapt for me.
