Not Alone: An Ouran HSHC story

Friends?

Mei sighed, staring at the equations on the page in front of her. Math was definitely not her best subject.
"Are you having trouble?" Mei looked up to see the brunette from the strange music room. Haruhi, she thought.

"Uh, yeah, I'm not good at math...." Mei mumbled. Haruhi smiled.  
"I can help, if you don't mind. Meet me in the room you walked into yesterday after school, okay?"
Mei nodded and muttered a quick "thank you."

Once 3:00 came, Mei gathered her courage and went to see Haruhi. She didn't realize everyone would be there. The weird thing was, all of the other boys had a number of girls they seemed to be flirting with. Mei raised an eyebrow as Haruhi waved her hand. "Don't mind them, come on, we'll study back here." She lead Mei to a room towards the back, separated by a curtain.

After an hour of going over problems, Mei understood them a little better. Mei smiled. "Thanks, Haruhi. That was really nice of you." Haruhi shook her head. "Anytime, Mei."
Mei stood and brushed her hands on her dress. "Well....." All of a sudden she heard a noise. "Mei-chan!!!" An energetic small blonde boy jumped into Mei's arms.
"W-wha-?!"
"Mei-chan!!! Do you want some cake? I have chocolate and strawberry!" The Lolita announced. "A-um sure..?" Mei stuttered. The boy grabbed Mei's hand and took off towards the nearest table.

After sharing cake with Honey, half-heartedly laughing at the twin's cheesy jokes, and trying to avoid Tamaki, Mei felt just a tiny bit more comfortable.
"Hey, Mei?" Tamaki asked before she left. Mei raised her head.
"How come you're always alone? Do you not know anyone else in the school?"
Mei nodded. "You guys are the first people to talk to me." She said meekly.
"Why, Mei-chan?? You're so much fun!" Honey exclaimed.
"Yeah," Hikaru said.
Mei gave them a small smile.
"W-well, I need to go now but um, thank you so much for today, I had a great time."

"We hope you come back tomorrow, Mei!!" Honey smiled.
Mei nodded. Did this mean she had friends?
"Yeah, I will."
