*MaKazia*
“I was running through the woods from someone in a black hoodie. I turned back and saw that the person had a shiny metal object. ‘A Knife.’ I thought to myself. I continued to run until I tripped over a tree branch. I fell and landed head first. I got up and was about to run until the person grabbed my hand. The person took one look at my face and said “It’s Caden, MaKazia.”’
I woke up with a start. I looked around and noticed that I was in my room and it was a bad dream.
“MaKazia, you okay baby?” My mom came into the room with Caden in tow. I got out of bed and ran to Caden. Caden pulled me into a tight hug. “Caden tried waking you up, but he couldn’t so he came and got me. Was it another nightmare?” My mom asked. She was the only one that knew I had certain nightmares. Not even Caden knew what happened that night 2 years ago. Caden was there, but only at the end.
“She’s been having nightmares again Mom?” Caden asked. That’s right, Caden and I are so close of best friends, that he considers my parents, his parents. I consider his parents my parents also. We’ve known each other since Pre-K. Ever since he gave me his crayons to use, we’ve been inseparable. I’ve liked Caden since the 2nd grade, when he beat these bullies up for me. He was the nicest guy I’ve ever met. He STILL is the nicest guy I’ve ever met.
“Yes dear. She is. I’m afraid that we can’t just stop them.” My mom responded with a sad voice. I knew she was sad. After all, it was her ex husband (AKA my DAD!) That came after me and tried to kill me. That’s what I’ve been having nightmares about recently. If I hadn’t called Caden that night to meet me by the park, he would of never heard my screams and I might not even exist right now.
“You could always have someone stay with her at nights Mom.” Caden responded.
“Yes, I could. But I don’t know who would do it though.” My mom said while looking at Caden.
“I could you know… I’m her best friend after all.” Caden responded.
“You would?! That’s great! Thanks Caden!” My mom squealed.
“Shh, you don’t want to wake MaKazia up do you?” Caden said. Oh, they thought I was still asleep.
“She needs to get her lazy butt up anyway.” Mom said.
“How should we wake her up?”
“You could jump on her, like you used to.”
“Yeah I could! She’s needs payback from the last time she tried to wake me up. I still can’t go around water the same.” He said while shuddering.
“What do you mean?” My mom asked.
** FLASHBACK. **
“Caden, get up!” I yelled.
“No. I’m staying in bed all day!”
“NO YOU’RE NOT. GET YOUR FAT LAZY BUTT OUTTA MY BED.”
“NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS!”
“That’s it.” I mutter under my breath.
“Fine, you can stay in bed.”
“Thank you MaKazia.”
I walk out of the room and down to the kitchen. I go to the cupboard and grab a glass. I turn the hot water on and fill the glass up with water. I go back upstairs and try getting him out of bed one more time.
“Caden, are you going to get out of bed? If you do, I’ll give you a kiss!” I teased him.
“No. Your kisses stink.” He muttered.
“Fine, you brought this on by not getting out of bed.”
“Whaaaa- AHH MOTHER FLIPPER!” He said when I poured the hot water all over him.
“I told you to get out of bed.” I said while I smirked. He gave me his ultimate death glare, then went to go change.
** FLASHBACK OVER **
“Don’t worry about it.” Caden said.
“Ok, just get her up.” Mom said while walking away.
“Okay MaKazia… get out of bed.” Caden asked.
“How did you know I was awake?” I asked.
“I’m just that awesome!” Caden commented.
For a 16 year old, he’s so childish.
