Troye's P.O.V.

"Holy hell, it's hot," I thought to myself, running on the sand as fast as possible to limit the amount of contact it had with my feet. I sighed a breath of relief once I reached the cool(ish) wood of the dock. Setting my flip flops down beside me, I sat down on the edge, dipped my feet in the water and smiled at my own reflection. I remember this place, all the good memories that came from here.
"I dare you to jump in," Dylan said, smirking at me. "No way!! It's freezing!" He laughed, and then questioned my attire with a smirk. "I'm wearing a swimsuit, butt-head, because we're at the beach. And I don't like getting sand on my normal clothes." He giggled, but then his facial expression went into stubborn mode. "Okay fine. I'll jump in if you do."
The random conversation from my flashback had me looking down at the clothes I was wearing then, and I realized that my swim shorts were the same color as they were all that time ago, light-ish kind of nostalgic periwinkle blue. Huh, nostalgia was kind of perfect for this situation.
Footsteps from the other end of the dock arose me from my thoughts and I turned around to see Dylan, shirtless, in bright red swim shorts, walking towards me with a casual kind of smile. 'Where the hell did that tan come from?? Didn't he just come home from freaking NEBRASKA???? Doesn't it snow like all the time there? Meh, who cares where that tan came from anyway, this boy looked damn fi-Troye! How about we not develop a crush on our old best friend? You're already crushing on most of the straight guys at school, do you really want to scare him off already?? He just got back' I internally reprimanded myself.
"Troye?" Fuck. I realized I'd just been staring at him this whole time with a look on my face equivalent to that of a retarded sea lion. "Oh..uh...sorry Dylan, I was just kinda zoned out...definitely not, uh, staring...." Real smooth Troye, real smooth.     God I hoped my face wasn't as red as I thought is was. But he just laughed his infectious laugh and said "Suuuuuuurre", teasing me. I stuck my tongue out in retort and we fell silent, staring out into the water, reliving the past.
"I dare you to jump in," he said, that same old smirk on his face. "Hell no, it's way too cold for that shit!" He pointed out my feet hanging in the water as his argument and we argued lightly, teasingly, for a few minutes. I was trying hard to fight the feeling of déjà vu, but when he said "I'll jump in if you do" I realized we were having almost the exact same conversation as we had all those years ago. "I don't have a choice do I?" I asked, already knowing what his answer would be. "Nope," he said cheerily, pulling me up, walking to the very edge and grabbing my hand.
"One"
"One"

Uuuuuugggghhhh. That water looked sooooo cold!
"Two"
"Two"

Holy fuck, he was holding my hand!! Oh my god I hope I wasn't sweating.
"Three"
"Three"
The water was freezing, holy fuck! But there he was, Dylan, taking my hand and looking me in the eyes. We swam towards the surface and gasped in oxygen once we emerged. "Goddamnit Dylan. It's freezing!" I gasped, half-glaring, half-smiling at him. "But wasn't that AWESOME??" His enthusiasm made me giggle, and I playfully splashed water at him, starting a full on water fight.
A few minutes later, I was back up in the dock, about to jump in again. Why, you may ask? Well, because he asked me to, and it's impossible say no to him. He started the countdown and I started mentally preparing myself, when all of the sudden, right after he said two, he pushed me! But I was a lot quicker than he imagined and I managed to grab his arm right before I fell, pulling him with me.
We hit the water only a second apart and sunk a good 10 feet before starting to swim upwards. But then he did something I would have never expected. He grabbed my shoulders, smiling serenely, and held me in place. He wasn't letting me swim up. I was running out of breath. 'Dylan, what the hell are you doing, I'm going to drown' I screamed inside my head, terrified. I mean, what did I even know about him now? How could I know I could trust him, the last time I really knew him was 6 years ago! He could have turned into a murderer! Maybe I was just his next vic-
My inward screams of panic were cut off then by his lips. Yes, you read that right, his lips. He was kissing me all of the sudden, giving me some of his air. And then he pulled me with him as he began to swim upwards again. I started kicking alongside him, completely shell shocked, and we emerged a few seconds later.
Coughing and gasping, I started swimming back to the dock. I was livid! He scares the hell out of me and then kisses me- not okay! I heard him calling my name as I stomped off through the sand towards my belongings, sounding confused and hurt, but I ignored him. Gathering my stuff in my hands, I stormed back to my house, ignoring the scorching feeling of the hot sand on my feet, welcoming the slight distraction. He was not going to be forgiven easily.
