Wow, okay, this is happening. He didn't blow me off like I thought, maybe guys can be hot and not total dickheads at the same time, Toni thought as she watched Steve walk up to her little house. He was hot as ever, maybe even hotter since he wasn't blushing as much as he was during class earlier that day. He looked about the same as he had in class, just less embarrassed.
"Woah," he looked at her and smiled sweetly, "a pretty girl like you didn't give a guy like me a fake address? I've gotta admit, I'm a bit disappointed of your taste in men."
Toni giggled, "Pretty boy like you didn't blow off a girl like me? I'm just gonna say, I might've underestimated a guy like you." Steve smiled his sweet little smile and started walking towards her, making jokes and talking about how nervous he was before coming there. He kept saying he couldn't believe she didn't give him a fake address, which made Toni a bit angry that he thought so little of himself. He came a little closer to her and subconsciously took her hand while talking. They stayed this way until Toni's mom, totally cool lady with hair curlers in, called them inside for donuts.
Toni looked down at their intertwined hands, only just realizing she was holding hands with someone she had just met earlier that day.
"Well, um," she awkwardly started untangling their hands, "I guess we should go inside."
"Yeah," Steve replied, a bit breathless from pretty much telling her his life story for about an hour. When they got inside, Toni's mom was smiling uncontrollably.
Toni looked at her and chuckled, "What, mom?"
"Nothing, nothing hun. I like your new boyfriend there by the way, he's a keeper. Now what's his name?"
Now it was Toni's turn to nonstop blush.
"B-boyfriend? Nahhhhh, he's new in my class a-and we just wanted t-to hang out." Toni was tumbling over her words, badly. She almost never got this way.
"Yeah, ma'am," Steve swooped in, trying to save what was left of the melting puddle once called Toni, "I'm new and Toni was nice enough to try to get to know me."
Toni's mom considered this for a moment, "Well, alright. But I know there's more to this than maybe even you two know." then she just went back to her room to watch Breaking Bad or something.
Toni had reappeared, no longer a puddle of embarrassment, and turned to face Steve.
"Sorry about her," she chuckled, "she has no boundaries."
Steve smiled back at her, "Hey, at least you can talk to her like an actual friend. No 'yes ma'am's or 'sorry ma'am's."
"Yeah.. I guess so," Toni replied. They looked into each other's eyes, eye pair a mini infinity. Toni then leaned in, wrapped her arms around his waist, and then tackle hugged him onto her couch. They laughed for a bit, held hands, leaned on each other, then turned on the tv.
