The sun beamed brightly, lighting up the awfully plain-colored building of Banks High School. Crowds of students headed to the front doors, all coming from different directions. It was the middle of the year, and I was yet again the new girl of the school. I had only moved to this rather small town of Roseview, California two weeks ago from the large city of San Francisco.
I had constantly convinced my mom to home school me instead of forcing me to go to a school where I knew I wasn’t going to have friends or much of a life really. But no matter how many times I begged for her, she refused - every single time - not even taking one consideration. She didn’t even give me a good reason - all she said was that I needed to experience the thrills of the ‘high school life.’
Like what the hell did she mean by that? It’s like she was giving me permission to go to parties, get drunk, take drugs, and have sex all I want.
I sighed shaking the thought away and gripped tightly on the strap of my backpack, which hung over my right shoulder. Looking around, some girls wore short shorts that wrapped around their butts or skimpy skirts that should have gotten them arrested – not just a dress code violation slip, if there even was a dress code. And it was, in fact, also the middle of January.
I rolled my eyes, already starting to hate this school.
Suddenly, people began dashing through the doors, especially boys. I raised my eyebrow, checking the time on my phone. There was still fifteen minutes more before school started, so why was everyone in such a hurry to get inside? It wasn’t that cold.
One of the two girls in front of me, maybe a sophomore, said in an annoying high-pitched voice, “Omigod! Courtney just texted me that there was a fight near the cafeteria!”
A fight? Already? School didn't even start yet, and there was already a fight?
Wow, these people sure loved each other.
The brunette from the group gasped. “No freaking way!” she exclaimed. “I bet you it’s between Jackson Miller and Will Samuels! Haven't they been fighting over Sasha Harris for the past month?”
The blonde shook her head. “No, no, I think Sasha chose neither of them,” she disagreed. "She said they were being possessive assholes or something like that.”
I scoffed. That awfully sounded like some teenage drama movie.
“I think it's between Park Sanders and Drew Hamilton.” Just as she said ‘Drew Hamilton,’ she squealed, permanently damaging my poor ears.
Oh, gosh, just kill me now before I’m known as the seventeen-year-old who died because of a girl who couldn’t shut up.
Yeah, that’ll make a great headline!
The brunette’s eyes widened. “Omigod! Drew Hamilton?! He’s so fucking hot!” I swear her voice was going to break a glass cup anytime now. “He’s got that like bad boy vibe coming from him which makes him a hundred times hotter!”
