A/N - Hi! Sorry for not being so active on updates recently, but I've kind of been suffering from a minor depression... I'm fine now, though! I'm not sure I want to update as often, but I'll try to be as peppy as I normally am!
—-------------—
Warning/Announcement: This whole chapter will be in third person, as the story originally intended.
The rain poured in buckets, letting the figure's footsteps become unheard and unseen. As the hooded form dashed about the streets, a blood curdling scream echoed throughout the seemingly dampened night.
Meanwhile, the queen of Auradon was struggling in her unconscious slumber, trying to grasp consciousness. She felt cold, without warmth. A feeling of pure fear and pain rushed throughout her system, and for a moment, she was falling into a world of eternal darkness. She had heard the blood curdling scream, for it had come from her own voice. Her husband sat beside her, a weary look on his face. He tightly grasped her hand, cursing her capturer under his breath.
Somewhere else, another heart wrenching shriek echoed. Coming from another girl, letting her tears escape as she watched the warm crimson liquid, her own blood, trickle down her arm. Two girls were on death's doorstep that night, but only one survived.
---
Ben had cried. He had wept, and sobbed... tears of joy. His love had finally awoken from her slumber, but...
On that very same day, another had died. The entire reason Mal was awake was that girl.
A woman to be remembered, indeed. She had delivered an antidote, awakening Mal.
Only moments later, she was discovered, half dead in her room for attempt of suicide. They had tried to heal her, but it seems poison had been discovered in her body, one extremely similar, in fact, exactly like the one that nearly seeped the queen of Auradon into death's grasp. With a mirror shard in one hand, the other held a candle.
Half black, half white. The rumored candle that had been used oh so long ago. Not only until hours after her death did the authorities realize. The girl had transferred Mal's poison to her systems.
(Cough cough OUAT cough cough)Days later, the Royal Family, the current and former rulers, visited the girl's wake.
Anya Ro'Lesse,
Said the calligraphic words on the banner.
Upon sight, Mal stared at the pale girl's dark hair, so different than the picture with the happy, cheerful girl with laughter filed hazel-green eyes and vibrant, healthy coffee brown hair. Then she remembered.
--
Looking back into her past, Mal recalled a little girl in pigtails, with brown hair and green eyes playing with her in their youth. The younger Mal stumbled, her parents rushing over to help. She had scraped her knee, and the other girl dashed over, laying a hand over Mal's knee and letting a soft, pale green light engulf the wound. Moments later, they were running around, Mal's wound healed like nothing had ever happened. Over the years, Mal remembered her best friend casually healing her of her wounds."Jeez, if you ever get kids, will I have to heal them, too?"
Mal only laughed. But that laughter faded once that day came along. The little girl waved a sad goodbye, her wavy brown hair cascading in sync with the wind. They held hands for the last time, and her dear friend had left a bit of magic with Mal, as a reminder.
"Remember, even if we're miles apart, we'll always be connected. By the magic of our friendship!"
She smiled sadly, running off to her parents after saying one last, "Goodbye."
As the carriage drove off, Mal whispered her last words before the girl disappeared from her memory.
"Goodbye... Anya."
--(Sorry, if you didn't get it "--" means a flashback sort of thing)Spreading her hand, Mal watched as a spark of green ignited in her palm.
We'll always be together... thank you, my old friend.
A/N - Well, that got dark. By the way, Anya is my OC, (own character) whom I use in multiple situations. She'll play a semi important part in this story... even though she's dead.
That's all for now I have to go before my mom kills me for staying up this late.
