Dear Diary,
Hunting is taking over my life. Sometimes I look back at my time in college and wonder why I gave it all up. I could have made something of myself, been anything I wanted to be. Jessica's death destroyed me, and I longed to seek revenge on the monster that took her life. But I know that isn't what she would want for me. She would want me to move on, be happy, maybe even start a family with somebody else. It's too late now, though. I'm so wrapped up in hunting that I don't even take the time to acknowledge other girls. Perhaps if I moved away, had a fresh start somewhere else...
"SAMMY!" Dean burst into our motel room, handing me a cup of warm coffee.
Dean's my brother by the way. He's four years older than me, and has been hunting supernatural beings his entire life. Our Dad taught us both, although I was never as willing to learn as Dean was.
"Well you're in a good mood." I stated, recognising the smug grin on his face.
"Damn straight, I am! We got ourselves a case." He threw a newspaper over to me.
The headline instantly caught my attention:
"DEATH TOLL IN PHOENIX RISES AS THE MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCES CONTINUE"
"Mysterious disappearances? Yeah, 'cause that sounds so supernatural." I said sarcastically.
"Bitch." Dean muttered.
"Jerk." I countered, making us both break into smiles. Seeing as Dean's instinct is usually right, I decided to trust him on this one. "So what do you think it could be causing the disappearances? A Vampire? A Spirit?" I asked.
"I can't be sure until we've checked it out." He said, standing up and throwing on his leather jacket.
"You want us to go now?"
"Too right. The sooner we get there, the sooner we can kill this son of a bitch." He grabbed his car keys from the side table and headed out the door. "Come on."
