I hid in the corner of the shadows, pushing against the cage as if I could disappear into it.
I gasped and held my breath as footsteps entered the room.
The footsteps echoed throughout the stuffy room.
Silence again.
I let out my held breath all too soon, though.
THe cage door was ripped open and I was yanked from its protection.
I screamed and kicked, desperate to free myself.
I was slammed against the ground and held down as a needle was jabbed into my arm.
A cloth was held to my face and I breathed, which was a mistake.
My concieousness faded, as did my senses.
I didn't feel myself lifted.
Nor did I hear the police when they came.
