Princess Nicolette never really even liked the King for that matter; she only stayed because that's what her mother would have wanted for her. Queen Evangeline was a beautiful lady, always held in the highest regard. When the King had become engaged to her, prince's from all over came just to ask for her hand. The King had fought them all off, because they all wanted her to abandon her children and whisk her away to a new kingdom. The King never really loved her children either, but he truly loved Evangeline for everything that she was. So he learned to accept her children as a part of her, the woman he loved, and spoiled both of the children with more than they could ever dream of.

Evangelines' son, Blake, loved that the King wanted to be his father. He always wanted a father for as long as he could remember. When they got married, Blake was only nine at the time, was ecstatic that he now had a father. He was so thrilled that he told his mother that he would be the best son in the entire kingdom. Everyone laughed, but Blake wasn't lying back then, he never broke a single rule and always followed them. He never disobeyed or raised his voice. He was just so happy that he now had a father to call his own.

The King never wanted to spend time with his new step-children, he was always pushing them away or telling them to go elsewhere because he and their mother were busy, but a year later after their wedding the King had a son of his own with Evangeline. He was a handsome baby boy, with fair blonde hair on the top of his head. The King had named him Christopher, and he was the heir to the throne. Evangeline continued to love all three of her children from that day on but the King's attention was solely focused on his son. As Christopher grew, Evangeline's other two children began to foster an unbridled hatred towards their new brother. They became jealous of him; he got all the love and attention from both their new father and their own mother.

One day Blake decided that it was his day to get some well deserved attention, so he planned out how to get rid of Christopher for a little while. He snuck into his baby brother's room and pulled a chair close to his crib. Christopher was soundly asleep, Blake climbed on top of the chair and grabbed his brother out of the crib. As Blake climbed off the chair with his brother in his arms, he heard some glass shatter and screaming from the other side of the wall. Blake dropped his brother on the floor and ran to his parent's room. Christopher began to wail out in pain. When Blake opened the door he saw his mother on the bed crying and bleeding. As he saw the King walking towards her with part of a vase in hand. Blake ran to his mom where stood between the King and her.

"What are you doing to my mommy?!" He screamed at the King. Blake was so confused at was going on that he turned red in the face with anger.

"She wouldn't listen to me, so I merely did what I had to do."

Evangeline tried to coax her son, "Shush, don't listen to him Blake. I dropped the vase and got cut honey. He was just trying to clean me up. Please go back to bed sweetie."

The King looked at her with disgust, "I was doing no such thing; he ought to know what was actually going on. He will be a man one day, so why not start today." The King looked directly at his Queen, intently staring at her.

"I'm already a man, I've been taking care of my mommy since before you came around. Why are you looking at her like that? You big, stupid creep."

"Because, she is mine, she has pledged her heart and soul to me. I'm only taking what is rightfully mine. She did not listen to me, so I disciplined her accordingly." He did not break eye contact with Evangeline.

"You're a monster!" Blake charged at the King with his little fists.

"And you're an ignorant child," The King balled his fist and punched Blake right in the nose. Evangeline cringed as she heard her son's nose break. She pulled herself up off the bed and ran between the two of them, scooping up her ten year old son.

"You'll stop immediately! You bastard, punching a child because he has good morals. You make me sick." The Queen spat on the King's nightgown and turned away from him. She carried Blake towards Nicolette's room. Ignoring her other child's cries for help she yelled to her husband, "Go help your only son. He's been crying in the other room since Blake rushed in here to help me."

The King was infuriated, "Guards! Guards! Arrest her, arrest Evangeline! She is a traitor to this kingdom, the crown, and a traitor to holy matrimony! Guards! Guards! And someone shut that damned baby up this instant!"
