"Can anyone tell me what 90 times 6 is...Blake?"
I life my head sharply
"What? yes sir" I stutter
"Blake. I appreciate your communication through your mobile device. But this is my class. And if you do not pay attention you will have to de-promote into the lower class of mathematics. Do you understand me?"
I nod, slipping my phone into my pocket.
"Now, Blake, 90 times 6. Can you tell me this?"
"540...sir"
He grins, "Thank you. Now. I will be giving you this assignment. It is to be done over the holidays. It is 200 questions of a mathematical structure. Failing to complete this sheet with give you a bad reputation for your years to come" He starts handing the sheets out. He places the sheet onto my desk and turns his head to the sound of giggling.
"Rachel Ponch. I do not want the sound of giggling in my classroom. Do you wish to tell me what you are laughing at?" He asks, setting the sheet onto her desk. I look at her. She frowns.
"Sir. I was only laughing because Jae stuck a note to your back."
Jae growls. I snigger, leaning back on to my seat.
"I appreciate telling the truth, but," He stops to pull the sticker off his back. "I do not like having BIG BUTTS stuck to my back. I will have to contact your parents, Jae, This is not the behavior I want in my classroom"
Mr Burke was always talking with long words and in depth language. Most of the time I couldn't even understand him.
The bell rings and I throw the sheet into my green, cameo bag and walk out.
I have always been the loner kid with one friend. David Seth. My only friend.
I have no idea why nobody liked him. He has good looks. A brilliant personality.
...
Well. He hangs out with me. I still can't click why.
"Blake, over here!" I hear his voice from down the corridor. I rush down, dodging the bodies in front of me.
"Whats up? What is your next class?" He asks, pulling out his timetable.
"English. You?" I reply.
"just Music. THEN THAT'S US FOR 10 WEEKS BABY!" He shouts, jumping up and down.
"See you later" I walk away from him, patting him on the back as I pass, heading up the stairs.
I enter the class. English was so boring. I couldn't wait to get on holiday.
"Welcome class. Take a seat. Today you will be partnered up for a essay. This essay will be written in neat hand writing, along with complete concentration and no dilly dallying around!" Miss Hart instructs.
"On your desks there will be a piece of paper. I will now partner you up and you will BOTH write each word. Simultaneously. Ok. So. Partners..."
"Holly and Yasmin, You will work together. Bradd and Samantha. Fiona and Tom. Blake and Christina..." I jump when my name is said. I look behind me to see Christina. Sadly twisting her pencil around her fingers.
"You have this class to complete this. Get to work. You have the whole class"
