                          "Eliza"

Janene POV

"Ma'am, Ma'am can you hear me?" I heard a voice echoe. I cringed at the sudden pain that shot through my head.

"Ahh" I lightly groaned shutting my eyes.

"Ma'am, can you hear me?" The voice repeated. I looked up and recognized a doctor. He was a tall, handsome white man with blue, piercing eyes.

Throat being too dry to speak, I nod my head. But that was even worse.

"Hey, take it easy. You can't move much. Are you aware of what has happened to you?" he asked.

I shook my head No, although I knew exactly why I was here.

"Do you know your name?"

I nodded

"Okay, good."

"Water." I croaked out.

"Oh, I'm so sorry." he apologized before quickly grabbing a cup of water.

I gulped the water down in 2 seconds before feeling much better and more audible.

"What's going to happen to me?" I asked.

"Well.. I really don't know. You've been asleep and barely conscious for 2 and 1/2 months. " he informed me.

"Who are you?"

"I'm your Doctor. Dr. Robinson. " he held out his hand and I tried to move mine but it felt confined to this one spot by my side.

"It's okay, you've been out for a while. Your scars have almost healed. Your ribs are still healing, however you will probably experience soreness. You had a minor skull fracture, but luckily it has repaired itself after the laser treatment. It says here you are anemic, so we have to give you several blood transfusions due to all the blood you lost. We'll need you here for another week or so in order to ensure your ribs heal properly, to monitor the progress of your memory and brain activity and you'll need very little physical therapy in order to get your ligaments functioning properly again."

I nodded taking it all in. Another pain shot through my head. I winced.

"I'll have your nurse bring you some pain medicine immediately. Stay rested, I'll be back Shortly. " He smiled before exiting the room leaving me there to my thoughts.

I lay there not only dissapointed in myself but feeling disgusted. I smelled horrendous, My arms were chained to the hospital bed. I looked around and noticed 2 guards in the corner. I shook my head and let silent tears fall from my eyes.

Why is this my life?

I close my eyes wishing I could sleep for another 2 months, or maybe for the rest of my life, but I know that won't happen.

This is my reality.

Prison is my reality.

2 WEEKS LATER

"Alright Ms. Mayford, take care of yourself. " Dr. Robinson smiled as I was being handcuffed.

"Thanks Dr. Robinson, I will. " I smile.

Today I was being released from the hospital to go back to the prison. Dr.
Robinson was so helpful. He made sure I was fed and had my medicine every hour. He even had the guard take the restraints off of me and let me stay for another week. He was such a sweetheart.
