I couldn't comprehend anything.
There was beeping and I felt all wrong. My bed was harder than usual and I couldn't seem to pinpoint why I was so uncomfortable; yet I couldn't muster up the energy to move.
This was all wrong.
I began to open my eyes. I was definitely not in my room.
I was all too familiar with the surrounding white walls and the overly large gown I was dressed in.
My hands were tangled with clear tubes and something was taped across my face, under my nose. I went to rip it off.
"Oh thank God you're awake." Tanned fingers grabbed my hand. I turned my head to find Jaxon next to me looking tired as hell.
"What happened?" I couldn't remember clearly and my mind rebelled against me as I tried to recall.
"The bleed in your brain came back - you've been out for a week shorty." He looked at me adoringly and I couldn't help feeling uncomfortable under his gaze.
"I'll get the doctor and call the boys." He pushed a button on the wall and had his phone out already typing.
I sighed, and it hurt.
All at once people came flooding into my room. Xavier and Axel took up most of the space with a doctor and nurse close behind them.
Everyone was cooing and fussing over me and it felt like they were taking all the oxygen out of the air.
The nurse was trying her best to keep the boys away from me while the doctor did his job.
"How bad am I?" I asked.
"You're recovering very well actually. It always seems bad when in a coma but your body has had time to heal and recover. Do you remember what happened?"
Some unpleasant memories began to come back and I shuddered, then winced. The boys were instantly anxious, trying to get closer.
"I remember the race and then waking up."
"Excellent, that is more than I hoped for. "
The doctor continued to examine me and ask questions, whilst the nurse scribbled away on her clip board.
"As soon as you get your strength up you can go home. You're bruised and your ribs are going to be very sore for a while but other than that you should be okay. Take it easy and no hitting your head." He instructed with a soothing voice and a smile.
He told me he would check in on me in the morning and left the room with the nurse.
My three bulky brothers came closer by the bed.
"How's Daffy?" I asked no one in particular.
"That damn horse is just fine. Happy as Larry being pampered." Xavier muttered looking sour. He never liked me racing.
Axel and Jaxon rolled there eyes. The swirl of pain killers in my brain was making it hard to concentrate. I knew they were talking but I wasn't really there anymore. I tried to fight the stupor weakly, but to no avail.
"Rest shorty, you need it." I vaguely heard one of them say before I drifted off completely.
