"Well, hiya! I'm Katherine but you can call me Kat, kitty, or K but don't call me Kathy. It makes me feel old... And worse, it makes me sound old...ughh!" She shuddered in mock disgust at the thought of being called Kathy.
So that's exactly what I called her..instead of it being weirdo it would be the name she hated most.
"Great! It's settled. We'll call you Kathy." At that she glared at me and from the corner of my eye I could see Alex trying to hide his laughter and Ash covering up his snort with a cough.
"So Kathy... What exactly do you fucking want?" I bluntly asked her.
She had no time to talk during the breaths of my sentences because they were so quick, I knew she'd try to fit something in before I was able to finish.
"Honestly.. I was just looking for some friends. It's still barely my second day here and you three are the only ones I've introduced myself to, excluding the waiter..."
She didn't make eye contact with any of us and I was beginning to wonder if she would start crying then and there.
"If this is how my first day out is gonna be, I think I'll just go home. It was nice meeting you guys.. Thanks for the lunch date. Even though you probably didn't want me here in the first place."
At that, she put her food down in front of me, went up to the register, paid for it, and made her way to the door.
Seeing her walk away with her head down and her hands shoved in her pockets reminded me of myself and a time when I chose to keep my distance from everyone I knew.
So I fucking went after her like the dumbass we all know I'd turn out to be.
"If you don't stop walking so fucking fast im gonna let you wallow in your sadness and be miserable.. All by yourself might I add."
She finally stopped to look back at me and when she did I could tell she wasn't a happy camper.
