Pick-Up Lines
"Hey, are you a parking ticket? Because you've got FINE written all over you!" Jungkook said, wiggling his eyebrows at me. I snorted with laughter and surprise, almost choking on my drink in the process, setting him off in raucous laughter. Jungkook, my best friend from high school, and I were out at Starbucks to take a break from interminable pile of assignments and essays.
It was pretty shocking to hear those flirtatious words coming from the mouth of a longtime friend, yet sent my heart fluttering because, as we spent more time together, my feelings grew for him too.
"What's with you?" I asked, shaking with laughter. "Are you a magician? Because whenever I look at you everyone else disappears," he continued, his incredibly chiseled countenance bore a flirty grin. My heart thudded faster, and a faint blush painted my cheeks. "Shut up," I muttered, looking away shyly.
With a slight jerk of his hand, he turned to look at his watch, brows knitting to form a frown. "Sorry for asking, but what time do you need to be back in heaven?" Hearing my uncontrollably laughing emerging, he joined in, eyes crinkling at the corners and mouth forming the adorable bunny smile that I grew to love so much.
After our laughter subsided, we left the cafe, heading to the nearest bookstore to buy some school supplies. As I was quite a picky person for my pencils, [yes I'm weird, I know] Jungkook stood at the side after picking out whatever he needed, waiting for me to complete my selection.
"Hey, [Y/N]," he suddenly approached me, looking extremely flustered.
"I just saw my ex so is it possible ificouldholdyourhandjustforamoment to show her that I'm happy with someone else right now?" Without waiting for any reply, he slipped his right hand into my left, pulling me forward. It must sound silly, but I felt a pang when he mentioned his ex.
I was stunned for a moment, but started worrying about whether I was being too obvious of my feelings. I was at a precarious position now, because confessing might shatter our friendship, and I will not be able to let him go just like that.
"Wait-" A sudden realization dawned on me. "Didn't you tell me you haven't had a girlfriend before?" I blurted out, mentally slapping myself for being so nosy.
Pausing for a while, he said sheepishly, rubbing the nape of his neck shyly,
"Well, I kinda lied about having an ex."
I swear, that was the best pick-up line ever.
