In my world there's no such thing as 'just being friendly'. The day everyone seems to love and care for you is the day you don't ever want to experience. See, in planet Olzno, life isn't what you'd expect it to be. Everyone minds their own business and no one but your family is interested in your life, except on the Falling Day. The Falling Day is the day you cease to exist, the thing about Olzno, is everyone knows when your day is...everyone except you.
No one can verbally tell you when your Falling Day is or when it is nearing but you will notice when yours is getting close, its pretty obvious because the humans of Olzno aren't the most discreet people around. I've heard stories of people who were nearing their day and honestly, it's terrifying. The irony is, nothing actually bad happens, it's the unspoken language that drives you insane. You'll feel special, impossibly special, and then you'll know. When my parents first explained this to me I was dumbfounded, I couldn't believe that people were only nice to you just before your body turned into a corpse. I mean, are people really that selfish? I guess I got my answer.
There's a few signs that indirectly let you know your day is near, we know them as the five reaper warnings.
The first one is abundance, in everything. Too many smiles, too many hugs, too much small talk, too many gifts, too much of everything. When you start seeing this, worry.
The second one is sympathy. You'll see this in sad stares towards you, ramdom people will try to make ammends with you or just try to be your friend. They'll feel an indirect obligation to talk to you, probably because they feel bad for you.
The third one? Honesty. Expect confessions, a lot of them. Remember that guy you had a crush on in your 7th grade class? Yep, he's still in love with you. This is the time where everyone tells you their hidden feelings for you, whether its hate or love.
Special Treatment is the fourth, this one is very literal. The last year that proceeds your day you'll get inmense special treatment. For example, you don't have to wait in line because people just let you pass, you're always first in practically everything. Its like having the rights of incapacitated people.
The last one is truly the most horrifying, regret. You'll get apology letters from people you didn't even think you knew, and the sentences "i'm sorry" or "can you forgive me?" will be mentioned a number of times that you wouldn't even remember afterwards.
Once these warnings happen to you, be prepared for just about anything to happen. And the day all of them happen in exagerated amounts simultaneously, let's just say you should have your will ready.
I'm saying all this for just one simple reason, because i'm certain my Falling Day is near.
