Neither moved.

Neither dared break eye contact.

Not until it was forced.

“Please, take a seat, Mister Fakir.” Mr. Cat meowed, with a rather devilish look in his eyes. Kasai could just imagine what was going on in his head. Young love~! Young love~! Maybe they’ll even get maaaaarrieeed~! She grimaced at the thought. That cat was overly obsessed with marriage. Maybe if he wasn’t so psychotic, some girl might see some – very well hidden – good traits… Or so everybody hoped. It was either that or he’d be begging his female students to marry him for the rest of his life.

Kasai only hoped it was the former.

She watched from the corner of her eye as he moved across the floor, silent as a shadow. He made a point of sitting as far from her as possible, taking a seat beside the white haired boy. To Kasai, despite him having just sat there, it seemed as though he was protective over the boy, by the way he was slightly tense and his head tilted towards the white haired boy and his emerald eyes continuously slid to Rue, glaring. That was definitely odd. Perhaps she’d delve further into that sometime. She knew she didn’t have a chance befriending Rue, and she just didn’t want to befriend the Fakir boy. So perhaps the white haired boy? She furrowed her eyebrows, just in the slightest, barely noticeable bit.

There was definitely something off about him. He just seemed to lack something. His eyes were so forlorn. Everything about him just seemed so makeshift to Kasai’s observant eyes. It was strange, though, she couldn’t recall even seeing him before. So all in all, she was just as unobservant as she was the opposite. She shook her head lightly, to clear such meaningless thoughts. She honestly didn’t need the distraction – or did she? Kasai sighed again, a rather pointless habit she seemed to have recently developed. Her short nails tapped against the dance floor, making a light, rhythmic sound. This earned her a few glances; all of which she blatantly ignored. Glancing around again, Kasai noted this was the advanced classes – not the beginners.

“Alright,” Mister Cat clasped his paws together gleefully. “Today we will practice the pa de duex.”

Murmurs rippled through the group. One girl, with shoulder length violet hair raised her hand. Mister Cat peered blankly at her, before nodding permission to speak.

“On pointe or no?” She asked dumbly.

Kasai, along with over half the class, deadpanned. That was probably the most idiotic thing she’d ever heard. They were the advanced class; obviously, they’d be doing pointe. This is precisely what Mister Cat told said girl – who in turn, looked rather shameful. Several of the class sweat-dropped, not including Kasai this time. She returned her brilliant emerald eyes to Mister Cat, waiting patiently for his next words.

“Now then,” He gazed over the students. “Partner up!”

Kasai didn’t budge. It just figured that Mister Cat would decide to do something as stupid as this. There was probably plenty of people that wanted to pair up with Kasai, but the want definitely wasn’t mutual. She didn’t want to pair of with any of the students here. Glancing up, she raised an eyebrow at the Fakir boy. There were several girls surrounding him, all begging to be his partner. He looked as though he wish he could fall through the floor. Kasai sighed, standing grudgingly. Might as well save him; It’s not like I have anything better to do.

The fire haired girl strode forward, her steps brisk and graceful. She ignored the glares she received upon approaching. The boy seemed confused, but narrowed his eyes in the slightest, a muted questioning look in them. She didn’t even look at him, her emerald eyes skipping over each person surrounding him.

“What do you want?” One girl dared asked, sneering.

Kasai raised one slender, fire colored eyebrow. “My partner. You’re surrounding him.”

“He’s not your partner!”

“Yes I am,” Fakir cut in, much to everyone’s surprise. “That’s why I said no to all of you.”

Several girls wailed at the loss, while other set to glaring at Kasai, the promise of revenge in their eyes. I’ll have to watch my back, Kasai noted, wondering why she had went and done something so stupid. Too late to take it back now. She finally looked up to meet Fakir’s gaze.

“You coming?”

“I suppose I am.”

She turned and began to walk back to her spot, followed quickly by the dark haired boy. He gave her a rather suspicious look, to which she returned with her own questioning one.

“Well? Are you going to ask your question or are you just going to stand there staring at me all day? I know I’m beautiful and all, but take a picture. It lasts longer.”

He raised a curious eyebrow. “I wasn’t aware you had a sense of humor.”

“Everybody does. I just don’t show mine very often.” She shrugged. “Now then, what were you going to ask?”

“Why you did that.”

“Did what?”

“You know what I mean, fire.”

“Fire?”

“I don’t know your name.” He snapped.

“Kasai.”

“I was close.”

“Close enough.”

"I know.”

“Of course you do, Fakir.”

“How did you know my name?”

“Mister Cat.” She glanced at said teacher, who was scolding somebody and threatening others with marriage.

He followed her gaze. “Figures.”

She nodded in agreement, unsurprised when his gaze snapped back to her.

“Hey! You changed the subject!” He snapped.

“I did nothing of the sort.” She remained stone-faced, calm.

“You did too!”

“Where’s your proof?”

“Answer my question!”

“What question?”

“The one I asked before you changed the subject!”

“You never asked a question."

“I did too!”

“No, you didn’t. You said, and I quote, ‘why you did that’. And if I recall correctly, that is not a proper question.”

He growled. “Why did you help me, then?”

She shrugged. “Because I felt like it.”

He opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off by Mister Cat. “Okay! It looks as though everyone is paired up. Let’s get started!”

Fakir shot a glare at Kasai. It clearly read, ‘this isn’t over’.

She returned the favor with a rare smile, that appeared to shock him. Oh, no, Fakir. This is far from over.
