Julius cringed at the loud thud his school books made as they hit the floor. He slowly raised his eyes to the bullies that knocked them out of his hands. They were taller than him, a good 4 inches at least. The bulky one, the leader of the group Julius figured, had his arms crossed and was staring down at him with a smirk on his face. The other two lanky ones were standing behind him snickering. Idiots, Julius thought to himself, if only they could see how stupid they all looked. Julius sighed boringly and reached down to pick up his belongings. He was used to it after all, it wasn't anything new.
"Hey loser, who said you could pick those up?" The bulky one asked, kicking Julius in the stomach causing him to double over. He laughed, the other two joining in. Julius started to sit back up but was abruptly stopped by another kick, this time to abdomen. The lanky ones joined in, laughing and landing blows to his arms and legs. By now Julius was nothing more than a pile on the ground, surrounded by books and papers. The other students in the hallway walked around the group, no one stopping to offer assistance or to get a teacher.
"Not even going to stand up?" The cocky leader asked while snickering to his minions. Julius looked at them through half-lidded eyes. He wiped his nose, smearing blood up his sleeve. He spat at the bully's feet, causing the massive teenager's face to turn bright red with anger. The bully roughly pulled Julius up by his shirt collar and slammed him against a locker. He slammed his knee into his stomach several times. Julius' vision was starting to become blurry. His eyes wondered past the guy's head, to the tan boy watching from a few feet away. Julius recognized him, he had class with Brutus the semester before but they had never once spoken. The tall teenager's face was tainted with annoyance. They locked eyes as Brutus' face twisted into a scowl before he swung his backpack over his shoulder and turned away, not once looking back. Julius' vision went blurry and then turned black as he slumped over onto the floor.
