"Mom, I don't feel so good." I said as I entered the front door to my house.
"What's wrong, honey?" My mom called from the living room as I dropped my backpack.
I stumbled into the living room and collapsed on the couch. "Mom..." I whispered.
She rushed over to me. "Isabelle! Stay awake! I'm calling an ambulance!"
I desperately tried to say no, but the word wouldn't form in my mouth. I knew we couldn't afford a hospital bill.
My eyelids were heavy and I forced them open, only to see my mom's tear-streaked face. I could see the phone and her mouth moving, but I could only hear the blood in my ears.
My eyes closed and I felt my mom shake me.
"They'll... here soon... awake... Isabelle!" My mother's voice came in chunks.
I managed to rasp out an "I love you" as my vision faded to black.
